Memorandum.] Inquiries from Army Department regarding Members of 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force.

It is desired by the Army Department that inquiries by the police from that Department concerning men known or believed to be members of the 2nd New Zealand Expeditionary Force, such as requests for names and addresses of next-of-kin or other personal details, should be made in writing, giving as far as possible the reasons for such inquiries. It is realized by the Army authorities that in stating the reason for the inquiry it may not be desirable in certain cases to reveal full details in connection with the matter, but it is desired that as much information be submitted as is thought advisable considering all the circumstances. The request for information should be addressed to the Director, Base Records, New Zealand Military Forces, Wellington. D. J. Cummings, Commissioner of Police. Wellington, 14th February, 1940.
