APPREHENSIONS, PERSONS FOUND, ETC.

Whangabei.— Richard Howard Miller, suspected of theft, has been interviewed by the Ohacwai police, but no evidence resulted. (See Police Gazette, 1939, page 979.)

Whangabei. — Robert Hannam, default of fine and costs, has been arrested by the Dargaville police. (See Police Gazette, 1939, page 133.)

Auckland.— Richard Verner Neville, failing to maintain, has been arrested by the Cheviot police. (See Police Gazette, 1939, page 965.)

Auckland. Roderick John Rennie, suspected of theft, has been interviewed by the Christchurch police, and he admitted the offence. (See Police Gazette, 1939, page 980.)

Queen Street Wharf (Auckland). Dobson, deserting ship, has been arrested by the Newmarket police. His correct name is William Charles Dobson. (See Police Gazette, 1939, page 181.)

Auckland. William Harry or William Henry Ross, referred to in two entries in Police Gazette, 1935, page 15, and Photographs, page 16, committed suicide at Thames on the Bth ultimo.

Auckland. Benjamin Moody, failing to maintain, has been arrested by the Henderson police. (See Police Gazette, 1938, page 701.)

Auckland. — John Joseph Graham, inquired for, has been interviewed by the Auckland police. (See Police Gazette, 1939, page 581.)

Auckland.— William Henry Morris, failing to maintain, has been arrested by the Auckland police. He is identical with Joseph James Groonotte, referred to in Police Gazette, 1933, page 357. (See Police Gazette, 1939, page 787.)

Auckland. Joseph Grey, alias Lynch, default of maintenance : The warrant has been executed by the Mount Eden police. (See Police Gazette, 1939, page 906.)

Auckland. Alexander Brown Nathan, casting offensive matter, has been served with the summons by the Wanganui police. (See Police Gazette, 1939, page 906.)

Huntly.— Arnold Kingswell, suspected of theft, has been arrested by the Wellington police. He is identical with Arnold John Hardy, referred to below. (See Police Gazette, 1939, page 791.)

Mobbtnsville. — James Roberts, default of fine and costs, has paid the amount to the Otorohanga police. He assumed the name James Jefferson. (See Police Gazette, 1938, page 89.)

Putabubu. — Daniel Grainger Ward, inquired for, has been interviewed by the Auckland police. He is identical with a man of the same name referred to in Police Gazette, 1929, page 746. (See Police Gazette, 1933, page 572.)

Rotorua. -Sydney Herbert Hawthorne, inquired for, has been interviewed by the Devonport police. (See Police Gazette, 1940, page 42.)

Hastings.— Robert Kirkpatrick Simpson, failing to maintain, has been arrested by the Raurimu police. (See Police Gazette, 1939, page 789.) '

Wellington.— Arnold John Hardy, unlawfully converting motor-car, has been arrested by the Wellington police. (See Police Gazette, 1939, page 582.)

Wharf (Wellington).— McLuckie, deserting ship Warrant cancelled. His correct name is Maxwell Andrew McLuckie. (See Police Gazette, 1939, page 950.)

Christchurch. — Matthew Wallace Munro, suspected of theft, has been inverviewed by the Christchurch police, but no evidence resulted. (See Police Gazette, 1939, page 636.)

In the Police Gazette records the convictions of Rota Pini, alias Rota Pine, alias Huia Chase, have been confused with those of another offender with similar names, and the former’s convictions are republished in this issue of the Police Gazette, page 71. The records respecting this man as published in the Police Gazettes shown hereunder are to be cancelled : Police Gazette, 1921, page 456 ; 1922, page 439 ; 1923, page 378 ; and 1925, page 578.
