PERSONS WANTED.

Auckland. —13th September last, that he may be located and interviewed regarding ten single-bed blankets which he obtained from Bessie Margaret Bain, matron, Salvation Army Home, Parnell, Noe! Truman Wiltshire, age thirtythree, height 5 ft. 61 in., labourer, native of Ireland, strong build, dark hair, hazel eyes. Accused informed the complainant that he had enlisted and had sold all his clothing. He asked to have the blankets on loan until he went into camp when he would return them. Inquiries have revealed that he did enlist but did not report at camp, and the Military authorities are also inquiring for him. The photograph of Truman Wiltshire, referred to in Police Gazette, 1939, page 367, and Photographs, 1934, page 58, has been identified as that of the man who obtained the blankets. Auckland. — 14th ultimo, on two warrants to apprehend for failing to comply with the terms of maintenance orders for the support of his wife, Mary J. Neville, and three children, Richard Verner Neville, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 9 in., sharebroker, native of New Zealand, fresh complexion, grey hair, blue eyes, scar on abdomen and on back, boil-scars on back of neck. Wanganui.— lßth ultimo, \on warrant for theft of the clothing described below, value £6 18s. 7d., the property of Alexander Christie, East-town Workshops, Herbert James Marshall, age twenty-one, height about 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, tanned complexion, dark hair, dark-brown eyes, scar on back of head; dressed in a blue or brown suit, tan shoes which squeak and have buckles at sides, felt hat, and grey tweed overcoat with brown specks. On the above date accused left his overcoat in complainant’s room and accompanied the latter to a dance, but disappeared from the hall about 9.45 p.m. When complainant returned from the dance he found that Marshall’s overcoat had been removed, and also discovered that various articles of his own clothing described as follows had been stolen: a canvas bag; a pair of brown trousers with dark and light brown stripes; a pair of white tennis "trousers a grey flannel shirt; three white shirts with zip-fasteners ; a pair of white socks ; a grey woollen sweater ; a pair of swimming trunks. The canvas bag and a pair of trousers have been recovered. The accused, Marshall, who told complainant that his name was Jim Foster, left his employment with Roland R. Anderson, age thirty-six, height 5 ft. 11 in., labourer and salesman, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair going bald, blue eyes, small scar on left breast; well spoken. Accused obtained £2 from Hilda Powle, 26 Stark Street, Durie Hill, by falsely representing that a tablet of deodorising disinfectant which he sold to her was a borer exterminator, whereas in fact it was merely a carbolic block worth a few pence. ' 7 Levin. — 23rd ultimo, that they may be located and interviewed regarding breaking and entering the shop of Alfred William Allen, draper, Oxford Street—(l) William Alexander Millar, alias Barrington, referred to in Police Gazette, 1939, page 822, and Photographs, 1932, page 73. (2) Samuel Jamieson McKee.-referred to in Police Gazette, 1937, page 488, and Photographs, 1933, page 82. The shop referred to was broken into and two safes removed, but they have been recoveredone at the rear of the premises and the other on the main street, having apparently fallen from the. carrier of a motor-car which was seen nearby. This car is owned by Henry Horace Smith, referred to in Police Gazette 1939, page 822, and it was found next day abandoned about two miles from Levin. Three men were seen with the motor-car. Smith has been interviewed, but he denied having any knowledge of the offence. No warrant.

Wellington.l9th August last, that a summons for casting offensive matter in Waring Taylor Street may be served upon him, Henry Wolfe, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of Australia, strong build, dark complexion and hair, small moustache, full fase; dressed in a blue suit (no hat.) , Christchurch. About 10.30 p.m. on the 2nd ultimo, at Sandy Knolls, a hut, stable, shed, three reapers and binders, and a potato-digger of a total value of £335, the property of Margaret Ronald Bell, were destroyed by fire. On the 6th ultimo Robert John Bell interviewed a man who gave his name as Bill Williams, and who was. known to have previously slept in the hut. He admitted having been in the building when it caught fire, and he is to be located and interviewed regarding the matter.
