PROPERTY STOLEN.

Auckland. —On the 15th August last, the shop of REGINALD WORDSWORTH HUTCHINSON, 211 Karangahape Road, was broken into and the following stolen: Postal notes, value, 15s. (recovered); a postal note, No. C. 911985, for 55.; and £6 9s. in money. Postal note identifiable. Suspicion is attached to F. Cole (name probably fictitious), age about twenty, height about 5 ft. 9 in., slight build, fresh complexion, long fair hair; dressed in a dark suit and light tweed overcoat (no hat); pleasant disposition. He cashed the recovered postal notes at the Wellesley Street Post-office on the 16th August last, and endorsed them “F. Cole.” He may be identical with Frank Cole, referred to in Police Gazette, 1937, page Tauranga. —l9th August last, from clothing in a shed in the Domain, the property of RAYMOND SUTHERLAND, care of Haymarket Store, Devonport Road, a gentlemen’s gold octagon-shaped Swiss wristlet-watch with gold wristband, two scratches on back case, round bezel; value, £5 ss. Identifiable. /f/////// Rotorua.— During the night of 11th instant, from the huts of JOHN PROCTOR SAVAGE and LESLIE HUBERT MARCROFT, Arawa Street, £4O in money, made up of six £5 and about ten £1 notes; and a navy-blue coat and trousers with pin stripes, size 3, two false side pockets, one breast pocket, and two inside pockets; total value, £46. Identifiable except money. Suspicion is attached to (1) George Ahitahi Duncan, referred to in Police Gazetted 1939, page 783, and Photographs, 1937, page 20. (2) George Harold Cook, referred to in Police Gazette, 1939, pages 513 and 566, and Photographs, 1938, page 30. Between the 2nd and 4th ultimo, from the office of the Dominion Hotel, the property of WILLIAM DODDS THOMPSON, a brown leather suit-case, 22 in. by 18 in., brass locks, overseas labels pasted on it, containing a grey tropical tweed suit; a cream-coloured linen suit; a set of blue-striped pyjamas; a blue dressing-gown ; a pair of brown felt slippers; a Valet safety razor and strop; a shaving brush with white handle; and a photo album, containing photos of gold-fields, aerodrome, and surrounding country in New Guinea ; total value, £122 15s. Identifiable.

Wanganui. l7th August last, from a bedroom in the Parkville Private Hotel, Ridgway Street, the property of NGAIRE ELLEN COSFORD, a ladies’ rolled-gold oblong Roamer wristlet-watch, black hands and black Arabic numerals, jeweller’s No. “ W. 103 ” scratched on inside of back case, fancy rolled-gold non-expanding bracelet attached with ratchet fastener in middle; value, £4 15s. Identifiable.

Wellington. -12th ultimo, from the Balmoral Hotel, the property of GEORGE WILLIAM JERVIS, a gentlemen’s black worsted double-breasted overcoat with Hoosen’s tag, Clarion brand; value, £5 10s. Identifiable.

Wellington. 2oth ultimo, from the Town Hall, the property of SYDNEY ALFRED GOODMAN, cook, Weraroa Camp, Levin, a gentlemen’s double-breasted overcoat with belt and silk lining ; a gentlemen’s brown Vance Vivian hat, size 6s; and a pair of yellow chamois leather gloves, size 7 ; total value, £ll. Wellington. —22nd ultimo, from the office of the Stuart College, Panama Street, the property of JOHN HOPKINS WILKINSON, 59 Overtoun Terrace, a gentlemen’s doublebreasted light-blue heavy tweed overcoat with darker blue stripes, fit man 5 ft. 5 in., vent in back, “ Hope Bros.” on tag, two buttons on each side; a silver cigarette-case, “W. Wilkinson ” and “ 1917 ”on it; and a pair of darkbrown kid gloves, size 7J; total value, £7 7s. 6d. Identifiable.

Wellington. —23rd ultimo, from the Civic Skating Rink, Wakefield Street, the property of GERALD LEONARD SHARPE, 14 Aplin Terrace, a gentlemen’s double-breasted fawn camel-hair overcoat, English style, fully lined with silk, full belt, vent in back, six dark-brown buttons, “ George Harrison, Lambton Quay ”on it; and a pair of light-tan hogskin gloves, size 10 ; total value, £7 14s, 6d. Identifiable.

Dunedin. sth or 6th instant, the property of ELECTROLUX LTD., a large envelope containing statements; a cheque, No. 435, for £123 ss. lid. in favour of A. Edwards (recovered); a cheque, No. 436, for £4l ss. 4d., in favour of G. Blue ; and a cheque, No. 437, for £22 Is. 5d., in favour of P. Gye; total value, £lB6 12s. Bd. Identifiable. (All cheques are drawn on the Bank of New Zealand, Dunedin, have “ Electrolux Ltd.” printed on them, and are signed “ D. E. Rout, Managing Director and E. A. Gentry, Secretary”). Shortly after 10 a.m. on the 6th instant the recovered cheque was cashed at the Bank of New Zealand, Dunedin, after the signature “ A. Edwards ” had been forged on it by the following described Man (name unknown): Age about twenty-five, height about 5 ft. 7 in., slight build, sallow complexion, dark hair, thin nose and face; wearing a dark suit (no hat). It is believed that the packet containing the cheques had been stolen from a G.P.O. private letter-box which was found unlocked on the 6th instant.
