New Plymouth. —On or about the 26th December -i on warrant for indecent assault on a male, William Frederick Roberts, age fifty, height 5 ft. 9 in., farm labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, grey hair, brown eyes, tattoo-marks on arms ; dressed in a brown suit and grey felt hat, and he always wears a returned soldiers’ badge; fond of drink. Accused indecently assaulted Allan Mack, age fourteen, in a hut on a farm. Later he was interviewed, and permitted to return to his work at Onaero, hut he disappeared from his employment on the 22nd ultimo, q abandoning all his personal effects, WfA- /Jap/

Wharf (Wellington). 22nd ultimo, on warrant for assaulting Percival Cyril Boate, a police-constable in the execution of his duty, William Ford, age forty-five, height 5 ft. 11 in., ship’s fireman, medium build, fresh complexion, dark-brown, hair, blue eyes. He left this Dominion for England by the ship “ Port Darwin ” on the 24th ultimo.

Christchurch. 24th February last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for three months in default of paying £24 2s. 6d. arrears on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Irene Johnson, and two children, William Johnson, age about forty, height 5 ft. 8 in., carpenter, native of New Zealand, medium build, pale complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, quiet manner. Christchurch. 2lst ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Paparua Prison for nine days in default of paying £1 18s. balance of fine and costs for obscene language, Thomas Packwood, referred to in Police Gazette. 1939, page 211. Christchurch. —On or about the 17th ultimo, on warrant for false pretences, John Lee Aston, referred to in Police Gazette, 1938, page 26, and Photographs, page 13. He is usually dressed in a fawn saddle-tweed suit, light raincoat, and grey felt hat, has Cockney accent, prominent lips, and a closely-cropped dark moustache. He is about 16 st. weight. Accused obtained £5 10s. Bd. cash and a rug, three shirts, three pairs of socks, two pairs of underpants, a suit-case, a hat, and a raincoat, from Glassons Ltd., warehousemen, 96 Lichfield Street, by means of a valueless cheque for £l7 on the Bank of Australasia, Hastings.
