♦- Auckland. 2oth July last, for unlawfully converting to his own use a motor-car (recovered), value, £l2O, the property of the Auckland Star, Ltd., Man (name unknown), age about forty, height about 5 ft. 9 in., slight build, dark complexion, thin face; dressed in a heather-coloured suit, light-grey tweed overcoat, and light-brown felt hat; slightly stooped. The car was unlawfully removed from Darby Street and abandoned in the Britomart Garage, Customs Street, by the man described above, who asked that it be oiled and greased. No warrant.

Auckland. — July last, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Miriam Isabel Esdale, 175 Hobson Street, Henry Arthur Esdale, referred to in Police Gazette, 1937, page 125, and Photographs, 1922, Jsjge 66. Auckland. 2nd instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Dorothy Baker, Rowland Coombe Baker, age fortyfour, height 5 ft. 9 in., clerk, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, dark hair turning grey, dark-brown eyes, large nose and ears, full lips, scar on forehead, scars on legs ; usually dressed in grey trousers and light-fawn sports coat, and he wears a wristlet-watch with his name on the back of it; well spoken. Auckland. —23rd ultimo, on two warrants of commitment to Auckland Prison for four days on each in default of paying £3 10s. fines and costs for breaches of the Traffic Regulations, Phillip George Adams, age thirty, height 5 ft. 6 in., piano-tuner, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, brown hair and eyes, scar on right leg. Morkinsville. — l9th ultimo, on warrant for assaulting Gordon John Alfred Robinson, taxi-driver, William Brewer, alias Wi Thompson, referred to in Police Gazette, 1938, page 622, and Photographs, 1928, page 38. He associates with Maoris. Accused engaged complainant to drive him from Morrinsville to Patetonga and New Brighton, and when asked for the fare he assaulted the taxi-drived. There are other charges pending 57 /0 /y£ New Plymouth. — lst July last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for two months in default of paying £34 ss. arrears on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Alice Pearl Watt, and child, John William Watt, age about thirty-five, height 6 ft., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, dark-brown hair, brown eyes; usually wears a dark suit and sand-shoes; quiet manner, slovenly appearance; fond of drink. Hawera. — 12th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to New Plymouth Prison for five days in default of paying £2 15s. fine and costs for being found on the licensed premises of the Railway Hotel during prohibited hours, Reginald ROSS, age forty-seven, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, dark-brown hair, dark eyes, large nose; dressed in a brown suit, brown felt hat, and fawn mackintosh. Palmerston North. —loth ultimo, for indecently assaulting Shirley Patricia McDonald (age seven), 215 Ferguson Street, Man (name unknown), described as young, of medium height, black straight hair, black filling in one right upper tooth ; dressed in black trousers, black shoes, black overcoat with half belt (white handkerchief in breast pocket), white silk scarf (no hat). Accused accosted the child in Fitzherbert Avenue and gave her sixpence. He then took her to the back of a nearby building where he indecently assaulted her. She has since contracted gohorrhOea. Wellington. 2nd instant, for a breach of his probation (Prevention of Crime (8.1. E.), Act), Victor Frederick Weaver, referred to in Police Gazette, 1938, page 318, and Photographs, 1935, page 36. His license has been cancelled, and his return to the nearest Borstal Institution is desired. He is not to be arrested after the 3rd May, 1939, but if he is located after that date and before the 3rd May, 1940, he is to be warned *to report to the nearest Probation Officer. (P. 38/1191.) Wellington. he may be located and interviewed regarding his having travelled on the train between Frankton Junction and Wellington and Levin and Wellington without paying his fare, Norman Bruce Stewart, age forty, height 5 ft. 9f in., shepherd, native of New Zealand, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, scar near left eye, at left side of mouth, and on left side of lower lip, blind in right eye; well dressed; fond of drink. He committed the offences on the 12th January last and the 4th June last, and the fares owing are £1 10s. 3d. and ss. 10s. respectively. Christchurch. —lßth July last, on two warrants for failing to comply with the terms of maintenance orders for the support of his two children, Oliver Ernest Blackler, age forty-seven, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, thin face, high cheek-bones, long fingers; usually well dressed.
