APPREHENSIONS, PERSONS FOUND, ETC.

Rawene. —Samuel Dick, default of fine and costs, has been arrested by the Otahuhu police. (See Police Gazette, 1938, page 269.)

Auckland. — A. Johnstone, alias Lawrence Vivian Fairhall, false pretences, has been arrested by the Christchurch police. He assumed the name Brian Haynes. (See Police Gazette, 1938, page 301.)

Auckland. —Alfred John Carmont, default of maintenance, has been arrested by the Freeman’s Bay police. (See Police Gazette, 1938, page 355.)

Auckland. ——— Chris, rape, has been interviewed by the Auckland police, but no evidence resulted. His correct name is Daniel Chris McDonald. In connection with the same offence Tai Raymond has been interviewed by the Otaki police, but no evidence resulted. (See Police Gazette, 1938, page 461.)

Auckland. Charles Allan Yardley, default of maintenance, has paid the arrears to the Newton police. (See Police Gazette, 1938, page 461.)

Auckland. — Edwin Lewis, ixJdt “ Yank ” Lewis, Auckland.— Edwin Melvin Lewis, alias “ Yank ” Lewis, failing to maintain, has been arrested by the Christchurch police (See Police Gazette, 1938, page 503.)

Otahuhu.Archibald McDonald, default of fine and costs, has paid the amount to the Auckland police. (See Police Gazette, 1938, page 503.)

Gisborne. — Herbert Leah Paterson, alias William Patrick Roberts, convicted (see Police Gazette, 1938, page 221) : The sentences have been varied and now read, “ false pretences (11 charges), 3 years’ R.D. ; obtaining credit by fraud (2 charges), 1 year’s R.D. on each.” All copies of the Police Gazette are to be amended accordingly. New Plymouth. James Lester Goodall, alias Reginald George Marshall, alias Lawrence Vivian Fairhall, false pretences, has been arrested by the Christchurch police. He assumed the name Brian Haynes. (See Police Gazette, 1938, page 323.)

Normanby. —Raymond Strong, alias Ray Thomas, alias Fred Martin, default of fine and costs, has paid the amount to the Hamilton police. (See Police Gazette, 1938, page 56.)

Napier.— Percival Rhys Wingrove, convicted, died in the Wellington Public Hospital on the 12th instant. (See Police Gazette, 1933, page 151.) (W’gtn. 4217/38.)

Hastings.— Mervyn Vivian Johnson, breach of probation, has been arrested by the Wellington police. (See Police Gazette, 1938, page 462.)

Wanganui. — Paranihi Dardanelles, convicted (see Police Gazette, 1938, page 424): The sentence of 3 years’ R.D. has been reduced to l£ years’ R.D. All copies of the Police Gazette arc to be amended accordingly. (P. 38/951.)

Palmerston North. Stanley Walter Burstall, default of fines and costs, has paid the amount to the Tauranga police. (See Police Gazette, 1938, page 479.)

• Wellington. — Constance Augustine, convicted (see Police Gazette, 1938, page 453) : The charges and sentences should read, “ theft, 3 months ” and “ theft (4 charges) and receiving, convicted and discharged on each.”

Wellington.— Jack Brophy, alias John Michael Brophy, default of fine and costs, has paid the amount to the Feilding police. (See Police Gazette, 1938, page 480.)

Taranaki Street (Wellington). The unclaimed property has been disposed of by auction. (See Police Gazette, 1936, page 35.)

Wharf (Wellington). Sydney Albert George Moon, deserting ship, has been arrested by the Christchurch police. He assumed the name Sydney Herbert Elliot. (See Police Gazette, 1938, page 462.)

Nelson. — Harry Victor Fairbanks, attempting to leave New Zealand without permission : Warrant cancelled. (See Police Gazette, 1937, page 848, and 1938, page 324.)

Murchison. — Harry Victor Fairbanks, default of fine and costs : The warrant has been executed by the Nelson police. (See Police Gazette, 1937, page 848, and 1938, page 324.)

Kaiapoi. — James C. B. Rennell, default of fine and costs, has paid the amount to the Addington police. (See Police Gazette, 1938, page 504.)
