Gisborne. — ultimo, for assuming the designation of a member of the Police Force, Man (name unknown), age about thirty, height 5 ft. 8 in., thin build, sallow complexion, dark-brown hair, sunken eyes, small moustache, long thin face; well dressed in a blue striped suit, bright-grey rubber overcoat,, and blue soft felt hat, and was wearing hornrimmed spectacles with thick frames. Accused visited the shop of Charles Meng Yee, fruiterer, 184 Gladstone Road, whom he informed that he was Detective Ruddick of Auckland, and was following the “ Black Dragon ” robbers. He also said “You will probably get a note from the robbers demanding money, in which case you had better pay it, otherwise you will be murdered.” He then desired to know where the Chinese lived, after which he left the shop saying he would be back again next day. He did not return to the shop. No warrant.

Greymouth. — the 27th and 30th ultimo, the following described motor-car was unlawfully removed from Guinness Street by some person unknown: A light-fawn coloured 1936 model five-seater two-door sedan Ford V. 8, chassis and engine No. C. 18/C. 18108, 1937-38 registration No. 9, 064, radiator grille painted red, and red squares on engine bonnet, value, £175, the property of William John Coppersmith, Railway Hotel. The car contained a brown travelling rug, value, £1 55., union papers, and complainant’s driver’s license.
