Kawakawa. —That he may be located and interviewed, Waiter James Grey, painter. In December, 1936, or January, 1937, an A.J.S. motor-cycle with sidecar attached was left in the machinery shed of the Bay of Islands County Council by some person unknown. It has 1936-37 registration - plates (engine No. 24354), and it was registered at Awanui in the name Walter James Grey. When located he is to be interviewed regarding the ownership of the motor-cycle. lihLhyS .

Dargaville —loth ultimo, on warrant for breaking and entering the dwelling of Johan Clarke, Pukehuia, with intent to commit a crime, Francis Frederick PosSe, age eighteen, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, thin build, pale complexion, dark hair, grey eyes ; dressed in a grey suit and cap ; dull appearance. He was interviewed on the 16th ultimo, and made a written statement admitting the offence, but he disappeared from his employment that day, and next day he was seen riding a bicycle. About that time a bicycle, the property of Tari Bassil, Pukehuia, was stolen, and he is suspected of the theft. Auckland. 2Bth October last, for assaulting Edith Poulsen (age seventeen), 73 Hepburn Street, Freeman’s Bay, Man (name unknown), age about twenty-seven, height about 5 ft. 10 in., medium build, dark hair; dressed in a lightgrey suit and black shoes. Barnes (name probably fictitious), attempted false pretences (see Police Gazette, 1937, page 802) : Henry Thomas Carstairs, alias Henry Daniel Gray, referred to in Police Gazette, 1938, page 31, has been interviewed by the Auckland police, and admits having obtained the chequeform from the licensee of the Royal Hotel, having filled it in and having attempted to have it cashed by William Skinner. He states that the man who attempted to obtain the motor-tire tube from Porter Motors was his associate, Jim Fergus. (This latter name may be fictitious.)

Christie (name probably fictitious), age about fortythree, height about 6 ft., strong build, medium complexion, brown hair, small moustache; dressed in a brown suit with double-breasted waistcoat, fawn felt hat, and brown shoes. The suit was stolen from the bar of the City Hotel and sold to a second-hand dealer for 15s. No warrant.

Dunedin. 4th instant, on warrant for unlawfully landing in New Zealand, Eduard Lewers, age thirty-one, height 5 ft. 10 in., trimmer, native of Germany, medium build, scar on face, speaks very little English. Accused enticed Thomas Henry Bullen, age six, to leave the childrens’-, playground at Gore Place and accompany him to some bush in the Botanical Gardens, where he committed the offence. No warrant.
