PERSONS WANTED

Whangarei.— 26th October last, on warrant for false pretences, P. Malone, age about fifty-two, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer and shearer, native of New Zealand, strong build, dark swarthy complexion, black hair, left upper eyelid droops; wearing heavy working boots (no hat); rough appearance; fond of drink. Accused obtained from Harry Campbell Hemphill, County clerk (who is hon. secretary of the local Returned Soldiers Association) an order for shearing equipment to the value of £1 35., by falsely representing that he had secured through Dalgety and Co. shearing work which would return him £l3 in wages. He used the order and procured the shearing gear, but on the same date he sold it for £l. He told complainant that he was a returned soldier, his regimental number being 102,200. This is the regimental number of Pierre Kugener, referred to in Police Gazette, 1921, page 125, and Photographs, page 39, and the Photograph of the latter has been identified by three persons as being that of the accused, P. Malone. JURIST Auckland. —14th October last, on warrant for failing to provide for the maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, Vincent William Wyatt, age thirty, height 5 ft. 5 in., farm labourer, native of Australia, strong build, dark complexion, brown hair, dark-grey eyes; well dressed in a brown suit, tan shoes, and brown felt hat; frequents wrestling contests and race meetings. Complainant, Fanny Gordon, care of Mrs. Knight, Seaforth Avenue, Mangere.

Auckland. —22nd ultimo, that he may be located and interviewed regarding his having obtained from the Employment Promotion Fund £6 11s. 6d. to which he was not entitled, he having been in full-time employment at the time, Gordon Owen Williams, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, dark complexion and hair, blue eyes, round face.

Auckland. —About 11.15 p.m. on the 28th October last Dorothy Margot Cooper, 2a Harbour Street, Ponsonby, was assaulted’in New Street by a Man (name unknown), who threw her to the footpath and hit her in the face. Suspicion is attached to a man of the following description who was seen sitting on a seat a few minutes prior to the assault: ' Age about twenty-three, height about 5 ft. 7 in., slight build, pale complexion, wavy red hair; dressed in a light-grey suit (no hat); smart appearance. No warrant.

He is fond of drink, and spends a good deal of his time in hotels; usually dressed in a grey suit and felt hat; quiet manner; smart appearance. He has failed to report to a Probation Officer. He is an insurance agent, and is in possession of a fawn Ford 10 motor-car, registration No. 108,441. A charge of theft of money received on behalf of his employer at Morrinsville is pending against him, and he may endeavour to leave this Dominion. , 3ft Gisborne. —On or about the 4th September last, John Charles Haydon, Matawai, and Marion Adclene Dunlea (see Police Gazette, 1935, page 194), both of whom were drunk, occupied a bedroom in the dwelling of Frederick Cameron, 111 Cobdcn Street, and next day Haydon discovered that he had been deprived of about £l2O. Inquiries are to be made for Marion Adelene Dunlea, referred to above, and when she is located the file is to be procured from the Inspector of Police, Gisborne, so that she may be interviewed,

New Plymouth. —23rd ultimo, on warrant for failing to provide for the maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, Horace Edward Hcdder, age thirty-four, height about 5 ft. 6 in., draper, native of New Zealand, slight build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair turning grey, brown eyes, lump on right side of forehead; usually dressed in a brown suit; fond of drink and of horse-racing. Masterton. lst October last, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £l6 arrears on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Elizabeth Rubina Manion, 15 Casel Street, Timothy Manion, age forty-nine, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, grey hair, blue eyes, pointed nose, left ring-finger broken, flat feet; slovenly appearance.
