SPECIAL NOTICE.
Child unlawfully abandoned. Petone. — 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. on the sth instant, a new-born male child was unlawfully abandoned by some person on a veranda of a dwelling at 11 Buick Street. When found the child was unharmed, but the umbilical cord had not been severed. It’s clothing consisted of a ladies’ old woollen singlet, a portion of a cotton singlet, a ladies’ homemade dark-brown cardigan of stocking stitch with seven silver-coloured buttons of the size of a threepenny piece down front, and some remnants of old white cloth. The child was born only a few hours previously to being discovered on the veranda, and its weight was 7 lb. 13 oz. It is at present in the care of Nurse Smith, Buick Street. Any information which might assist in establishing the identity of the parents of the child is to be communicated to the Superintendent of Police, Wellington. /M/1 A_ r P -f- _// ,0/4 //,')
