INQUIRIES, ETC., FROM OUTSIDE NEW ZEALAND.
Adelaide (Australia). — Rupert Gordon Russell, alias Gordon Russell, fraudulent conversion (see New Zealand Police Gazette, 1937, page 295), was arrested in Melbourne on the charge referred to and remanded to appear at Adelaide on the 28th ultimo, but he failed to attend, and two Bench Warrants have now been issued at Adelaide for his arrest on the following charges— On or about the 17th March, 1937, at Adelaide, being entrusted with Treasury bonds to the value of £12,640 or thereabouts, and certificates for eight thousand one hundred and seventy preference shares in Miller Anderson Ltd. of the value of £6,500, or thereabouts, belonging to the informant, in order that he might apply the same for the benefit and to the order of the informant, fraudulently did convert the said property to his own use and benefit; and (2) on or about the 19th March, 1937, at Adelaide, being entrusted with Commonwealth Treasury bonds, valued at £I,OOO or thereabouts, belonging to the informant, in order that he might deliver the same to the informant, fraudulently did convert the said property to his own use and benefit. He is described as follows : Age thirty-three, height 5 ft. 11 in., salesman, native of Australia, strong build, fresh complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, small scar on forehead, scar on right cheek, small tooth-brush moustache ; always well dressed ; well spoken', and stays at the best hotels. He is a married man. He was in possession of a Chrysler De Soto motor-car, registration No. Vic. 201—979. It is thought that he may now bo in New Zealand, and his extradition expenses are guaranteed.
