Circular No. 3/37] Statements or Telephone Messages from Private Individuals. In future when any private individual calls at a Police Station or communicates by telephone to report an offence or make a complaint or other statement, the statement or telephone message is to be taken at once irrespective of where the complainant resides or where the offence was committed, and in no circumstances is the person who calls or telephones to be referred to another Station. When the statement or message has been taken, it shall be attended to if it refers to a matter in the receiver’s own sub-district. If it is for attention outside his sub district he shall telephone particulars to the Station concerned if the matter is urgent and then furnish a report in the usual way. Members of the Force desiring the services of the coach in preparing for the literary section of the annual police examinations are requested to notify this office through the usual channel as early as possible, so that arrangements may lie made to engage the coach if there are sufficient candidates offering.
