PROPERTY STOLEN.

Queen Street Wharf (Auckland). On the 4th December last, from the “ Port Waikato,” the property of WALTER CHARLES WEBB, 5 George Street, Dominion Road, a gentlemen’s octagon yellow metal Swiss wristlet-watch, luminous Arabic numerals, second hand, engraved “ W.C.W. from Dad,” black leather wristlet; value, £3 3s. Identifiable.

Auckland. —11th January last, from the dwelling of THELMA DOREEN CARRINGTON, 39 Commercial Road, Newton, a gentlemen’s 9 ct. gold dress ring with large opal in square setting, opal chipped on top ; an 18 ct. gold wedding ring ; an 18 ct. gold engagement ring with three sapphires in claw setting, one sapphire is paler than the others ; a 9 ct. gold Eversliarp propelling pencil; a gentlemen’s gold-plated watch-chain with long links and rheumatic ring attached ; and 6s. Bd. in money : total value, £l2. Identifiable except money. Suspicion is attached to Ray Rayner (name probably fictitious), age about twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 8 in., musician and contractor, medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair, brown eyes; dressed in a brown suit and fawn felt hat; fond of music, and plays the piano. Complainant left her home about 3 p.m. on the 11th January last, and when she returned about 9 p.m. she found the suspect, who had visited her home on . a previous occasion, in the kitchen. Her children say that while they were playing in the basement they heard Rayner in the bedroom from which the property was stolen.

Auckland.—Between September and the end of November last, from the dwelling of CATHERINE DELIA SCHOLLUM, 171 Grafton Road, a 9 ct. gold cup (racing trophy), about 91 in. high, stem about 3 in. high, egg-shaped bowl, round base, engraved “Te Aroha Jockey Club. Homes Memorial Cup. Won by W. Scholium’s Ruapapa, 1924 ” ; value, £75 ; and an E.P.N.S. fruit dish about 12 in. wide, 3 in. deep, fluted edging round top, lattice work sides, upraised fruit patterns in bottom, four short claw legs : total value, £7B. Auckland. —15th ultimo, from Emily Place, the property of AARON OSSENDRYVER, Brooklyn Flats, Emily Place, a 1936 model four-door sedan Chevrolet motor-car, blue colour; registered No. 159 v 078; engine No. R. 6327525, chassis No. XH F A 75847, squab and rear seat missing ; value, £330. Identifiable. The registration certificate may be in a pocket of the ca yt&Utyfrggfr 3/^J^ Auckland. On the 3rd December last, the offices of the MOUNT WELLINGTON ROAD BOARD, Mount Wellington Highway, were broken into, the safe opened by means of explosives, and the following stolen : £3O Bs. Id. in money; unemployment stamps to the value of £1 3s. Id.; a Bank of New Zealand canvas money-bag; and a portable Royal typewriter. No. 94314 : total value, £4B Bs. Id. P. 27121 to P. 27144; and four packets of De Reszke cork-tipped cigarettes (tens): total value, 6s. Cheques identifiable.

Auckland.—On the 16th January last, from the dwelling of MAY BERESFORD, 106 Symonds Street, a small round clock with plain dial, set in scroll-shaped bronze frame with statue of Roman soldier holding battle-axe mounted on top; value, £5. Identifiable.

Otahuhu. — 14th January last, from a motor-car at Westfield Freezing Works, the property of ALEXANDER HECTOR DAVIDSON, 135 Grafton Road, a -22 calibre Walther repeating rifle, No. 33570:; value, £4. Identifiable.

Te Puke.—On 6th ultimo, from the Te Puke Hotel, the property of KATHLEEN GANNON and another, a ladies’ silver oblong wristlet-watch, hands missing, black ribbon wristlet; a green Sheaffer fountain-pen; a gentlemen’s 18 ct. gold ring, small ruby in centre and Hawaiian crest which consists of eagle with extended wings with small rose at feet, “ N.M.P.” on inside; a ladies’ 18 ct. gold dress ring, set with a large blue butterfly-wing stone with yacht on it, “ L.C.L.P.” inside : total value, £7. Identifiable. Charles Heberley, referred to in Police Gazette, 1936, page 673, and Photographs, 1933, page 27, has been convicted at To Puke for stealing money and jewellery from the same premises at the same time, but he denies having stolen the property referred to above.

Napier.— On the 13th January last, from a motor-lorry in Hastings Street, the property of JACK WESTON, 12 Munro Street, a gentlemen’s square rolled-gold Swiss wristlet-watch, round dial, gold hands, “ J. Weston, 25th December, 1935 ” engraved on back, repair No. 2712 inside case, leather wristlet; value, £3. Identifiable.

Palmerston North. — December last, the property of ROY ERNEST EICHLER, 42 Warwick Street, Feilding, two motor-cycle number-plates, No. 12 y 566, for 1936-37 ; value, 2s. Complainant’s motor-cycle was unlawfully removed from Main Street, and when it was recovered some days later the number-plates were missing.

Petone. —On the 6th ultimo, the dwelling of MYRTLE HARRIETT JOHNSON, Bellevue Road, Lower Hutt, was broken into and the following stolen : A ladies’ round gold Rotherhams pocket watch, hunting case, “ M.H.H.” on back case a ladies’ 18 ct. gold ring, thin band, set with large pearl in claw setting; a ladies’ 18 ct. gold crossover ring, thin band, set with three large pearls in claw setting ; a ladies’ 9 ct. gold ring, set with emerald, crack in back of band ; and a silver American quarter dollar piece: total value, £l2. Identifiable except money. Suspicion is attached to Arthur Wong, alias Lee, alias Kow Chang Tang, referred to in Police Gazette, 1936, page 453, and Photographs, 1932, page 110.
