A man of above description engaged Irwin to drive him to Great South Road, where he stunned complainant with a severe blow on the head with some instrument. No warrant.

Auckland. — l3th July last, for false pretences, Harry Mercer, age forty, height 5 ft. 9 in., hairdresser, native of Australia, strong build, pale complexion, brown hair and eyes, good teeth ; well dressed in a clerical grey suit, greenish felt hat with small brim and round crown; erect gait. Accused obtained two combs, a Koken razor-strop, and thirty-two Wedge razors, value, £ll 19s. 3d., from Van Stavern Bros., 47 Customs Street, by falsely representing himself to be Harry Mercer, of Napier, a customer of the firm. He left for Australia on the 14th July last. The photograph of Monte Brewster, referred to in Police Gazette, 1928, page 820, and Photographs, 1929, page 6, has been identified as that of accused. On the Bth January, 1934, he was released on probation for two years, and was ordered to make restitution, vide Police Gazette, 1934, page 634. He has failed to do so, and his arrest is desired. Palmerston North. —19th ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Sylvia Dorothy Harwood, 28 Seddon Street, Leslie Charles Moore Harwood, age twenty-five, height 6 ft., butcher and freezing-works hand, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion and hair, blue eyes; usually dressed in a navy-blue suit (no hat.)

Eketahuna. — H. W. Snow, alias Howard William Snow, alias Herbert Snow, false pretences (see Police Gazette, 1932, pages 347 and 378), is now serving a sentence of two years in Sydney (Australia) for breaking and entering.

Wellington. 26th ultimo, for a breach of probation (Offenders Probation Act, 1920), James McLean Forbes, referred to in Police Gazette, 1936, page 401, and Photographs, 1935, page 24. He left on the 21st July last as a trimmer on the s.s. “ Piako ” for England, and he is expected to return to this Dominion.
