Wanganui. —Between the 10th and 29th ultimo, for theft of two cheque-forms on the Bank of New Zealand, Raetihi (recovered), value, 4d., the property of Mariotte Major, school-teacher, Ohakune, Donald Wallace (name probably fictitious), age about twenty-eight, height about 5 ft. 6 in., fresh ruddy complexion, brown hair, round features ; dressed in light-grey suit, light-grey tie, black shoes, and fawn felt hat; plausible manner. While complainant was staying at King’s Court Private Hotel, at Ohakune, her suit-case was broken open and the two cheque-forms stolen. The suspect also stayed at the hotel from the 26th to the 30th ultimo, and on the 29th he cashed one of the cheques, which was drawn for £6 10s. at the shop of Chan Yin, a Chinese fruiterer.
