Auckland. 2lst instant, that he may be interviewed regarding the maintenance of his illegitimate child, Allan G. Roulston, in the care of the Education Department, Hiram Davis, age twenty-five, height about 5 ft. 7 in., labourer and circus hand, native of New Zealand, medium build, pale complexion, dark hair : blue eyes. Auckland. —10th instant, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “ Rangitane,” J. McPhail, age seventeen, height 5 ft. 7 in., galley boy, native of Scotland, stout build, dark complexion and hair, scald-scar from left shoulder to elbow.

Auckland. — 9th instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his child, Henry William Pay, age fifty-five, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, ruddy complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, scar on chin and on neck. Auckland. 6th instant, for a breach of his probation, (Offenders Probation Act, 1920), Albert John Peard, referred to in Police Gazette, 1934, page 406. Auckland. —On the 21st ultimo, some person broke and entered the Royal Oak Post-office at Onehunga, and attempted to open the safe by means of explosives. Pieces of gelignite, putty, and a screwdriver were found at the scene of the crime ; also boot-prints the rubber soles of which appeared to be patterned with small diamonds. Damage to the amount of £lB 9s. was done to the safe.

Taumarunui. —21st instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Mavis Annie Patterson and three children, Hakiaha Street, Edward Georgs Patterson, age twenty-nine, height 5 ft. If in., painter and paperhanger, native of Tasmania, slight build, fair complexion, light-brown hair, large blue eyes, small scar above one eye, several moles on face; usually well dressed in a navy-blue suit. Taihape. —l2th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for seven days in default of paying £2 ss. fine and costs for a breach of the Motor-vehicles Act, Ronald Guy McNaughton, age about forty-five, height 5 ft. 8 in., showman, native of New Zealand, medium build, sallow complexion, dark hair; spine injured and walks with a limp ; frequents A. and P. shows where he conducts a “roll-down” game, and his wife sells toys. Waipawa and Waipukurau.— Norman Ernest Ryan, alias Norman Leslie Ryan, alias Norman Ryan, alias Carl C. Thunelius, theft, &c. : It has been ascertained by the Wellington police that he left this Dominion as a member of the crew of s.s. “ Canadian Cruiser ”on the 22nd July last. (See Police Gazette, 1928, pages 776 and 850, and 1929, page 84, and 1936, pages 487 and 501.)

Wellington. —2lst instant, on warrant for being absent from _ the oil tanker “John Knudsen ” without leave —- (1) Bjarne Alexander Hanoey, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 10 in., seaman, native of Norway, medium build, brown hair and eyes; speaks broken English. His photograph is filed. (2) Aksel George Olai Kaldheim, age twenty-one, height about 5 ft. 6 in., seaman, native of Norway, auburn hair, blue eyes, oval face; speaks broken English. Wellington. —2sth ultimo, that a summons may be served upon him for being found on the s.s. “ Maori ” without lawful excuse, but in circumstances which did not disclose an intent to commit any other offence, Robert William Hines, age twentyfour, height 5 ft. 11 in., labourer, native of England, slight build, dark complexion, dark-brown hair, grey eyes, scar on right fore and middle fingers. Greymouth. 22nd instant, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for two months in default of paying £26 6s. arrears on a maintenance order for the support of his illegitimate child of whom Mona McDonald is the mother, James Galway, age twenty-three, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer and showman, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, black hair, brown eyes, small nose. Ashburton.— Bth instant, on warrant of commitment to Paparua Prison for four days in default of paying £2 15s. fine and costs for being found on premises in which liquor was being sold without a license, Douglas William Dyer, age twenty-one, height 5 ft. 8J in., street musician, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair, grey eyes, mole on left side of neck, scar on right side.
