PROPERTY STOLEN.
Auckland. 26th February last, from a desk in the General Post-office, the property of AUBREY CYRIL ANDERSON HYDE, 76 York Street, Hastings, a German Filmpack camera, folding type, equipped with Zeiss lens and Tesser shutter, twelve-plate capacity, and takes photographs 3J in. by 2 f in., dilapidated condition ; value, £l2. Identifiable.
Auckland. JOSEPH ZAMBUCKA AND SONS’ shop broken into (see Police Gazette, 1936, page 300) : The following property was also stolen : A knife which is used for cutting cloth, wide wooden handle about 5 in. long, brass on each end, fitted with blade 3 in. long and 21, in. wide at base and runs to point; and a blade which fits into handle about 6 in. long and 1J in. wide at base and runs to point ; and a German automatic number stamp about 2 in. square, handle about 4 in. long with wide grip at top : total value, about £l2 13s. Identifiable.
Auckland. —9th May last, from the shop of JOHN COURT, LTD., Queen Street, a ladies’ deep-fawn beaver coney fur cape with brown silk lining, stand-up collar, two straps inside, fastens with large fur pompoms ; value, £9 9s. Identifiable.
Auckland. —During the night of 6th April last, from a dinghy in a boat-shed, the property of EDWARD WILLIAM MORRISON, .13 Herne Bay Road, Eonsonby, a 3 h.p. twincylinder Seahorse outboard motor, model A. 45, long shank, copper circulating water-pipes, some nuts' are brass and some aluminium ; and a varnished and leathered 6 ft. oar : total value, £2O 6s. Identifiable.
Stratford. —13th May last, from a room in the Stratford Hotel, the property of MARY WHITTLE, a crystal jewel case, 6 in. by 4 in. by 3 in., with deep lines on it in diamond shapes, square corners, wider at bottom than top, lid about J in. deep, containing peacock brooch about 3 in. long with small brilliants on it, pin at back; a pair of black earrings with small mirrors in centre ; a small hair-clip about 2 in. long with brilliants on it ; and a scent bottle, 4 in. by 1J in., stopper broken : total value, £4 Bs. Identifiable.
Wanganui.' — the 15th February and Bth April last, from the dwelling of JOHN PATRICK TIERNEY, Opaea, Taihape, a gentlemen’s gold hunting Elgin watch, Roman numerals, “ Presented to M. Tierney by Hunterville friends, July, 1912 ”on inside of case, faulty winder ; and a ladies’ silver open-face wristlet-watch, Arabic numerals, winder spring broken : total value, £l6 10s. Identifiable.
Waipukurau. 2Bth May last, from the Isolation Ward of the Public Hospital, the property of JOYCE PAULINE NEILSON, nurse, a ladies’ gold open-face keyless Swiss Unicorn wristlet-watch, square dial with fancy edge, “ Joyce Ncilson ” on back of case, repair No. 010688 on inside ; value, £3 10s. Identifiable.
Otaki. —2oth April last, from the dwelling of CHARLES GUY POWLES, Beach Road, Te Horo, a pair of Carl Zeiss field-glasses contained in leather case, Jena 8 magnification, diameter of object 24 in., focusing eye-piece, weight 13J oz., “ Maker Turast ” and “ Carl Zeiss Jena ” on them ; value, £ls. Identifiable. &p//c/37.
Masterton. —Between the Ist and 3rd May last, the dwelling of JOHN DRYDEN BLUNDELL, 202 Dixon Street, was broken into and the following stolen: A -22 calibre single-shot Remington rifle, No. 237459, model 33 ; a bicycle electric lamp and generator, Rotydon make; a ladies’ 9 ct. or 18 ct. gold Swiss wristlet-watch, No. 513041, repair No. 40243 scratched on inside case, Roman numerals; 10s. in silver and coppers ; and a bottle of Sunola hair oil, shampoo, &c. : total value, about £lO 16s. Portion identifiable.
Wellington. 26th or 27th April last, from a flat at 82 Webb Street, the property of LILLIAN BARTHOLOMEW, a ladies’ 9 ct. gold Rotary wristlet-watch, case No. 451845, about size of one shilling piece, Arabic numerals, gold hands, plain gold band attached; value, £5 10s. Identifiable.
Christchurch. —On the 22nd April last, the dwelling of DAISY FAIRWEATHER and ETHEL MAY HOCKING, 55 Brown’s Road, St. Albans, was broken into and the following stolen: A gold dress ring, set with three pearls in claw setting, a claw of which is damaged; a gold dress ring with oval milk opal in claw setting; a gold old-fashioned well-worn wedding ring; a gentlemen’s gold hunting watch, key wind, teeth marks on case ; a gold muff-chain, \ in. links, gold spring clips at each end; a gold ring, set with two medium-sized pearls ; and £l2 in notes : total value, £54 ss. Identifiable except money.
Christchurch. 7th March last, the dwelling of HAROLD FREDERICK EVERED DOWNTON, 11 Golf Links Road, Shirley, was broken into and the following stolen: A gold engagement ring, set with cluster of nine diamonds ; a gentlemen’s silver open-face Omega wristlet-watch with leather wristlet attached ; a gold bangle, J in. wide, “ M.E.D.” on it; a gold oblong pendant inset with blue stone, fine gold chain attached; and £9 in £1 notes: total value, £29. Identifiable except money.
Christchurch. 27th April last, the dwelling of CLIFFORD CARSON WILSON, 51 Weka Street, Fendalton, was broken into and the following stolen: A ladies’ small gold round wristlet-watch, with gold expanding wristlet attached; a gold oval bangle with small chain, attached; and 3s. in silver : total value, £3 13s. Identifiable except money.
Balclutha. —10th ultimo, from William Street, the property of IVAN JENKINS, a grey trailer, registration No. RI v 414, 7 ft. long and 3 ft. wide, two mudguards, front and tail-board lift out, pole is of 3 in. by 4 in. bluegum, axle is from an old model Ford, and the wheels are from an old model Rugby, spare wheel is carried under pole, tires are 475—19 size ; value, £l2. Identifiable.
