Newton. — Between April and September, 1926, from 25 Hargreaves Street, Freeman’s Bay, the property of EDWARD JOHN RESTON, 21 Pollen Street, Grey Lynn, a ■22 calibre Winchester rifle, “ E. J. C. Rest on ” on stock; value, £2 2s. Identifiable.

Identifiable except money.

Auckland.— l6th March last, from the Carlton Cabaret, Karangahape Road, the property of GEORGE ALLAN, 18 Gibraltar Terrace, Parnell, a gentlemen’s overcoat (recovered), and a gentlemen’s dark-striped silk scarf: total value, £5 3s. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Norman Mason, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 7 in., farm labourer; dressed in blue suit (no hat), tidy appearance. The overcoat was recovered from a second-hand dealer to whom it had been sold by the suspect for 3s. He may be identical with Norman Herbert Mason, referred to in Police Gazette, 1935, W; W/Ar

Newmarket.— sth June last, from the dwelling of EOK JANG, Meadowbank Road, Remuera, a gentlemen’s rolledgold open-face keyless seven-jewelled Elgin watch, Keystone case, “ Jeoss ” inscribed in centre, stamped “ Guaranteed 20 Years,” value £5 10s. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Ah Joe, referred to in Police Gazette, 1933, page 711. He has been interviewed, but no evidence resulted.

Tokaanu. —24th ultimo, from the Public Baths, the property of GRACE HATRICK, Virginia Road, Wanganui, a ladies’ white gold fifteen-jewel oblong Buren wristlet-watch, No. 91382, with chromium flexible wristlet attached ; value, £l6. Identifiable.

• Stratford. Between the 19th and 21st October last, the ROMAN CATHOLIC CONVENT school-house was broken into and 10s. in money stolen (not identifiable). Suspicion is attached to — (1) Ned Coupland or Gopc-ley, age about fifty, height about 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, sallow complexion, grey hair; dressed in navy-blue trousers, dark shirt, brown pullover, and greenish tweed overcoat; stooped; fond of drink : and (2) Man (name unknown), age about thirty-five, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, fresh complexion; dressed in navy-blue suit and dark shirt. Between the above-mentioned dates the two suspects were seen leaving the building.

Dannevirke. Between the 12th and 14th October last, the office of ARTHUR EDMUND POTTS, carpenter, Burns Street, was broken into and the following stolen: A Disston rip-saw ; a Disston cross-cut saw ; two tenon-saws ; a ratchet brace and about ten hits ; a Stanley plane ; a Bailey plane ; a set of stocks and dies ; rasps ; wire cutters ; pliers ; ratchet screwdriver; steel compasses, &c. ; “ E.P.” on planes and other tools; some tools may be branded “E. Potts ” : total value, £ll 12s. 6d. Identifiable. .

Wellington. —29th October last, from the shop of D. A. MORRISON AND CO., Willis Street, a seven-valve Rembler radio set, No. 18650, dark table model, size about 18 in. by 18 in., small dial; value, £lO. Identifiable.

On the 24th October last, the dwelling of JOHN KATHISTIDIS, 3 Belfast Street, was broken into and the following stolen : £225 in English silver coins, made up of half-crowns, florins, shillings, sixpences, and threepences ; a gentlemen’s silver open-face eight-day keyless pocket watch, upper half of dial has smaller dial with fancy numerals, works visible through lower portion of dial; a gentlemen’s hollow curb chain about 9 in. long, similar to illustration No. 15, Police Gazette, 1911, page 2, fancy gold medal, with “ J.K.” on it attached; two gold Egyptian bangles with sovereign attached to each, twisted cord design in three rows with horse-shoe clip to hold them together; a ladies’ silver broken wristlet-watch, white dial with Arabic numerals, black elastic band attached ; a pair of gold earrings, flower design with small diamond in centre, loop attached to go through lobe of ear; a pair of gold earrings, flower design with ruby in centre, loop attached to go through lobe of ear; a string of imitation pearls in three rows : total value, £243, Portion identifiable.

Idenj^ahle^^^ ~s~" Dunedin. —10th September last, from the dwelling of JOHN SPRATT and SYLVIA MAUD CONLEY, 520 George Street, a gold horse-shoe tie-pin (recovered) ; a rough nugget, size about £ in. by J in., attached to gold grooved pin ; a gentlemen’s 9 ct. gold dress ring, set with a white stone ; Bs. in money: total value, £ll 3s. Identifiable except money. Suspicion is attached to Elsie McGregor, alias M. Jenkins, age twenty-three, height 5 ft. 6 in., dark hair and complexion, blue eyes, good natural teeth; dressed in green and orange check frock, black coat, black beret, blue spotted scarf, suede fringed gloves ; pleasing manner; attractive appearance. She was employed by Mrs Spratt at the time the offence was committed, and the tie-pin was recovered from a gold-buyer to whom it was sold by a person answering the description of the suspect.
