For escaping from the Sea view Mental Hospital on the 16th ultimo, Cyril Potter, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, fair hair and complexion, blue eyes, scar on right side and on abdomen; vacant expression and wobbling gait. Dunedin. — the 16th May and the 14th August last, on warrant for theft of £3 145., the property of W. A. Scott and Sons, cycle dealers, 181 George Street, Clarence Nelson John Shaw, alias Shore, alias Bovey, age thirtysix, height 5 ft. 9 in., blacksmith, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, tip of left forefinger missing, scar on left temple; dressed in a brown suit, felt hat, and brown tweed overcoat; plausible manner. Accused, who was the Lawrence agent for W. A. Scott and Sons, cycle dealers, Dunedin, received £3 14s. from a customer on terms requiring him to account for it to complainants, but he fraudulently omitted so to do.
