PERSONS WANTED.

Whang arm. —14th instant, on warrant for attempted false pretences, H. Raxworthy, alias Bert Beazley, age about thirty, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes ; dressed in light-grey trousers, brown waistcoat, grey sports coat, fawn felt hat turned down in front, and soft collar and tie. Accused attempted to obtain £1 Os. 7d. and goods, value £5 19s. 5d., from Henry Robert Monkhouse, assistant in Hallenstein Bros., drapers, by means of a valueless cheque for £7, drawn by M. Slako on the Bank of New Zealand, Auckland, No. M. 344603, and endorsed “H. Raxworthy.” He may be identical with Herbert Thomas Raxworthy, referred to in Police Gazette, 1935, page 136, and Photographs, 1932, page 46. Te Awamutu. lst ultimo, on two warrants of commitment to Auckland Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £5 10s. fines and costs for breaches of the Motor-vehicles Regulations, Ivan James Costello, age twenty-six, height about 5 ft. 8 in., labourer and motor-driver, native of New Zealand, medium build, sallow complexion, black hair; usually dressed in a navy-blua-suit and black shoes (no hat); erMt . Taupo. 2sth ultimo, on warrant for theft of fifty-two Reserve Bank £1 notes; and a gentlemen’s silver Omega watch, which had been converted into a half-hunting, value £5, the property of Gladwyn Henry Petley, Mokai, Jack Kelly, age thirty-six, height about 5 ft. 11 in., bushman and miner, native of New Zealand, strong build, brown hair going bald, grey eyes ; dressed in a blue suit, light-brown felt hat, and black heavy boots ; swinging gait. The money and watch were stolen from a hut which was occupied by the complainant and accused, both of whom were employed by a timber company at Mokai,

Raetihi. —15th instant, for a breach of his probation (Offenders Probation Act, 1920), Wini Tewano, referred to in Police Gazette, 1934, page 623. He has failed to report to a Probation Officer, and has failed to make restitution of 19s. 6d. His arrest is d^ireck^ /f-J

J ohnsonville.For escaping from Porirua Mental Hospital on the 9th instant, James Joseph Ryan, age twenty-three, height 5 ft. 11$ in., native of New Zealand, strong build, fair complexion and hair, blue eyes ; dressed in a blue suit, faded felt hat, and black shoes ; swaggering gait, and when spoken to turns his body slightly to the left. He has a shy manner and appearance, and is very simple and harmless. y J V Nelson. For escaping from Stoke Mental Hospital, William Alan Griffiths, age nineteen, height 5 ft. 6 in., native of New Zealand, slight build, fair complexion, brown hair, blue-grey eyes, pimples on face dressed in grey flannel trousers, brown tweed coat, white tennk shoes with tan leather facings (no hat). Iteescaped on 2nd Instant. Hokitika. For escaping from the Sea view Mental Hospital on the 16th ultimo, Cyril Potter, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, fair hair and complexion, blue eyes, scar on right side and on abdomen; vacant expression and wobbling gait. He was wearing only underpants, shirt, and flannel, but it is thought that he had clothing hidden in the hospital grounds. (See Police Gazette, 1932, page 788, and, Photographs, 1931, page 32.)

Dunedin. — the 16th May and the 14th August last, on warrant for theft of £3 145., the property of W. A. Scott and Sons, cycle dealers, 181 George Street, Clarence Nelson John Shaw, alias Shore, alias Bovey, age thirtysix, height 5 ft. 9 in., blacksmith, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, tip of left forefinger missing, scar on left temple; dressed in a brown suit, felt hat, and brown tweed overcoat; plausible manner. Accused, who was the Lawrence agent for W. A. Scott and Sons, cycle dealers, Dunedin, received £3 14s. from a customer on terms requiring him to account for it to complainants, but he fraudulently omitted so to do. There are other similar charges pending involving a sum of £B6 14s. (See Police Gazette, 1930, page 656, 1935, page 663, and
