Accused, in company with Samuel Henry Coley (referred to in Police Gazette, 1935, page 318), took the car from complainant’s garage. Accused obtained benzine and oil, value 13s. 7d., from Albert Victor Faulknor, bowser-station proprietor, Queen Street, by falsely representing that he was employed by the National Products (N.Z.), Ltd., Auckland, and he gave complainant a written order on that firm. £p/39.

Accused obtained £3 14s. cash and groceries, value 35., from William Page, grocer, 142 Elgin Road, Mornington, by means of a valueless cheque for £3 17s. on the Commercial Bank of Australia, Dunedin, signed F. L. Lawrence. The cheque was one of ten stolen from John George McKay, 91 Glasgow Street. He is also suspected of another similar offence. No warrant.
