Wairoa. —l2th instant, on warrant of commitment to Wairoa Prison for three days in default of paying £3 15s. arrears on a maintenance order for the support of his two children, Sydney Campbell, age fifty-four, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer and farmer, native of New Zealand, strong build, copper complexion, curly black hair turning grey, brown eyes, large nose, scar on left wrist and on right cheek ; usually well dressed in a blue suit, brown felt hat, and tan shoes; a half-caste Maori; speaks good English. Hastings. 7th instant, on warrant of commitment to Napier Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £2 ss. fine and costs for being found on licensed premises during prohibited hours, William Edwards, age fifty-seven, height 5 ft. 7 in., station cook, native of England, stout build, fresh complexion, grey hair, blue eyes, broad nose, woman’s head and clasped hands on right forearm, basket of flowers and cross on left forearm ; dressed in a grey shabby suit and grey felt hat. Palmerston North. —On or about the 13th instant, on warrant for unlawfully converting to his own use a motorcar (recovered), value £4OO, the property of Robert Howard Crawford, 18 Palm Avenue, John Henry Wilson, alias William John McDermott (referred to in Police Gazette, 1935, page 266, and Photographs, 1934, page 42). Accused, in company with Samuel Henry Coley (referred to in Police Gazette, 1935, page 318), took the car from complainant’s garage. Coley, when in possession of the car, was arrested by the Hastings police, but accused ran away. There are other charges pending. /W (OH IT 1/1/^

Masterton. —9th February last, on warrant for false pretences, John Day, age about twenty-eight, height about 6 ft., labourer and canvasser, native of New Zealand, medium build, sallow complexion, brown hair, sharp features ; dressed in a navy-blue suit, and sometimes wears a felt hat. Accused obtained benzine and oil, value 13s. 7d., from Albert Victor Faulknor, bowser-station proprietor, Queen Street, by falsely representing that he was employed by the National Products (N.Z.), Ltd., Auckland, and he gave complainant a written order on that firm. £p/39.

Wellington. —23rd April last, that he may be located with a view to enforcing a maintenance order made against him in New South Wales (Australia) in respect of his wife, Frank Taylor, age thirty-six, height 5 ft. 10 in., salesman, medium build, fair hair, small mole on left side of nose. He was last heard of at Auckland in April, 1935. His photograph is filed in the Commissioner’s Office, Wellington. (P. 35/506.)

* Dunedin. —21st March last, for false pretences, A. Timms (name probably fictitious), age about twenty-five, height about 5 ft. 7 in., thin build, fair complexion and hair; dressed in a brown suit and black boots (no hat); pleasant manner. Accused obtained £3 14s. cash and groceries, value 35., from William Page, grocer, 142 Elgin Road, Mornington, by means of a valueless cheque for £3 17s. on the Commercial Bank of Australia, Dunedin, signed F. L. Lawrence. The cheque was one of ten stolen from John George McKay, 91 Glasgow Street. He is also suspected of another similar offence. No warrant.
