MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION.

As in the case of the late Constable James Dorgan (see Police Gazette, 1921, page 612), so now, the Inspector, noncommissioned officers, and men of the Force of the Hamilton District propose to erect a suitable headstone to the memory of the late Constable Thomas Heeps, who was shot and killed while in the execution of his duty. It is estimated that the sum of at least £IOO will be required for the purpose. They confidently appeal to all members of the Force to subscribe the cost, and ask for a minimum subscription of 2s. 6d. from each person. In approving the proposal I trust that all members of the Force will consider it a privilege to contribute to erecting a monument to his memory. Lists are being circulated, and they and sum subscribed are to be sent to the Inspector’s Office at Hamilton in due course. W. G. Wohlmann, Commissioner of Police. Wellington, 27th February, 1935.
