Auckland. 3rd instant, from the dwelling of MARY WATTS, 133 Hobson Street, £3lO, consisting of sixty £5 Reserve Bank of New Zealand notes, and the balance in £1 and 10s. Reserve Bank of New Zealand notes; and a black envelope-shaped purse, about 11 in. by 8 in., with three compartments, “ Mary Watts ” written inside in ink. Suspicion is attached to Jim White (name probably fictitious), age about forty, height about 5 ft. 9 in., believed native of Australia, strong build, dark complexion and hair, small black moustache ; plausible manner ; well dressed in a navyblue suit and tan shoes or boots. Complainant keeps an apartment-house, and on the 2nd instant the accused booked a room for a week, but on the following night he disappeared leaving some of his clothing behind.

Normanby.— Between 1921 and 1925, the property of GEORGE THOMAS WASLEY (deceased), a five-chambered muzzle-loading revolver, No. 4920 T, made by Robert Jones ; value, £l. Identifiable.

Patea. Between the 12th and 14th instant, a store in Egmont Street, the property of the TARANAKI CHAIN STORES, LTD., was broken into and the following stolen : Two navy-blue serge Viking suits, sizes 5 and 6; a small Canterbury Locknit Rayon sleeveless singlet; a pair of Canterbury athletic shorts; an Interlock sports shirt, with short sleeves and zip front; three fugi silk canoe shirts ; three pairs of sports trousers ; three maroon Speedo bathingsuits ; two pairs of saddle-tweed trousers, sizes 6 and 7 ; two gentlemen’s suspenders; a set of rolled-gold studs; and two gentlemen’s caps: total value, £2l. Identification doubtful.

Masterton. Between May and October last, from a shed, the property of LESLIE BEAUCHAMP MAUNSELL, Opaki Road, a 12-gauge double-barrelled breech-loading shot-gun, single-trigger action, automatic ejector, Trap model, made by Hunter Arms Co., U.S.A., No/ R.E. 74697 ; value, £3O. Murchison. —Between the 13th and 15th December last, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Public Works Department), an axe three miner’s drills a miner’s scraper ; forty detonators ; and a coil of fuse (tools may have broad arrow on them) : total value, 17s. 2d. Identification doubtful. The articles were stolen from a road-repair job between Sullivan’s Bridge and Eernflat.

Suspicion is attached to Drummond (name probably fictitious), age about forty-seven, height 6 ft., native of New Zealand, slight build, dark complexion, dark long brown hair, blue eyes, tongue split in centre ; wearing light-grey shabby clothes (no hat); quiet manner. Suspect borrowed the bicycle from complainant and promised to return it on the following day, but failed to do so.
