PROPERTY STOLEN.

Auckland. — Between the 7th and Bth July last, a dwelling at Tuhare Avenue, Orakei, the property of JOHN CAMERON ROSS, 14 Windmill Road, Mount Eden, was broken into and the following stolen: A gentlemen’s rolled-gold open-face Ardath watch, “ Grovenor ” on dial, “ J.C.R.” scratched on inside of case; and a ladies’ gold open-face wristlet-watch, embossed edge, gold dial: total value, £5. Identifiable.

Auckland. 2sth ultimo, from a motor-track in Customs Street West, the property of WALTER PRESTON, 18 Airedale Street, a pair of Zeiss binoculars, No. 8 magnification, 8 X 30 near eyepieces, small mark on focus adjustment for correct sight, recently ducoed, in a brown leather case, the lid of which has been ducoed ; and a pair of old type Sortz prism binoculars, fixed eyepieces, focus is adjustable by two small wheels set between each tube : total value, £l6. Identifiable.

Epsom. —Between the Ist and 30th June, 1933, the property of WILLIAM FELLOWS GROVE, 24 Merivale Avenue, a •22 calibre Stevens repeating rifle, No. 70; . value, £2 10s. Identifiable. /bt rWLffao

Ongarue. —2sth August last, from the Tangitu Hall, the property of CONRAD THEODORE SCHOU, farmer, Mapiu, a gentlemen’s chocolate-coloured leather overcoat, threequarter length, lined half way with black silk, “ M. Schou ” written on lining in several places ; a blue and white woollen scarf and beret to match: total value, £4. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Reginald Schaare, referred to in Police Gazette, 1934, page 549, and following paragraph. He has been interviewed, but no evidence resulted.

Ongarue.— 2sth August last, from the Tangitu Hall, the property of JOHN NIVEN CAMPBELL, farmer, Mapiu, a gentlemen’s light chocolate-coloured Kaiapoi cloth overcoat, three-quarter length; and a large woollen scarf: total value, £7. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Reginald Schaare, referred to in preceding paragraph. He has been interviewed, but no evidence resulted.

Taupo. — 1931, the property of RICHARD HENRY WESTLE BRADY, rabbiter, Rotorua, a -303 calibre Lee H 140 Speed patent B.S.A. rifle, No. J 2646 ; value, £2. Identifiable.

Taumarunui. —Between the Bth and 9th September last, from a motor-car, the property of SAMUEL JOSEPH STEVENSON, Niho Niho, Ohura, a Simplex motor-car battery, 6-volt, 13-plate, No. 65565, “S. Stevenson ” cut in one side ; value, £3 12s. 6d. Identifiable.

Rahottt.— the 20th September and 6th October last, from a paddock at Pungarehu, the property of HUGH McCANN, Opua Road, Opunake, three two-year-old heifers, two dark-fawn and the other lighter fawn, ear-marked with a “ V ” cut in top of right ear and two “ V ” cuts out of left ear : total value, £5 ss. Identifiable.

Wanganui. During the night of the 24th ultimo, the shop of WILLIAM JAMES BLACKMAN, confectioner, Taumarunui, was broken into and the following stolen : A cheque for £1 ss. on the Bank of New Zealand, Taumarunui, drawn by M. Nicholson, and payable to cash; and £2OB 145., made up of six £5 notes, £l, and 10s. notes (mostly Reserve Bank notes), and £25 in silver. Suspicion is attached to Norman Pringf® Davidson Whyte, referred to in Police Gazette, 1934, page 436, and Photographs, 1928, page 24, who has been interviewed, but no evidence resulted. The money was stolen from complainant’s shop, where it was concealed in confectionery tins, a fact which was probably known to the suspect. .

Eeilding. —l2th October last, from a motor-car at Aorangi, the property of CONRAD ARNOLD VOSS, 282 Cook Street, Palmerston North, a Whitehouse split cane steel centre fishing-rod, fitted with agate rings, suction joints, green silk bindings, ferrule bindings of red silk, cork grip, gun-metal ferrules, red rubber button on bottom of rod, in khaki bag of four compartments, the tip end of which is repaired with lighter-coloured material, “ C. A. Voss, Box 1336, Wellington,” printed inside flap ; an aluminium reel; and about 100 yards of brown silk fly-line : total value, £l3 10s. Identifiable.

Palmerston North. Between the 22nd and 24th ultimo, from the strong-room of the NEW ZEALAND WOOLPACK AND TEXTILES, LTD., at Eoxton, a cash-box containing about twelve £1 notes on the Reserve Bank, and sundry papers and vouchers bearing the name of the complainant firm, The offender apparently opened the strong-room door with the key, which was kept concealed in the office.

Palmerston North. On the 26th October last, the dwelling of PETER TAIT JAMIESON, farmer, 43 Featherston Street, was broken into and the following stolen : A black tin cash-box, about 9 in. by 4 in., containing a cheque for £6 17s. lid., No. A. 376704, on the Bank of Australasia, Palmerston North, drawn by Farland* and Co., per A. G. Earland, in favour of P. T. Jamieson, dated 25th October, 1934; and about £ls in money : total value, £22 2s. lid. It is presumed that the offender found the key of the house which was in a meat-safe, and after stealing the cash-box and contents, replaced the key in the safe.

Nelson.— On the 23rd ultimo, the dwelling of MAURA MARY PATRICK JACQUES, Nile Street, was broken into and the following stolen: A gold wire brooch, four-leaf shamrock shape, set with large pearl in centre and four smaller pearls; an antique gold filigree brooch, studded with turquoises ; a pair of long gold earrings, studded with turquoises ; two gold attachments for earrings, studded with turquoises; a small broken gold ring with a cat’s eye on it; four gold shirt-studs; and a pair of plain gold cuff-links : total value, £ls. Mostly identifiable.

Nelson. 23rd ultimo, from the Runwell Cycle Works parking-shed, the property of JOHN BLOOMFIELD, Brightwater, a Miller dynamo to fit a 1929 model Calthorpe motorcycle, size about 6 in. by 2§ in., fitted with sprocket; value, £3 15s. Identifiable.

Bluff. —On the 30th ultimo, from the dwelling of WILLIAM CAMERON, Point Road, a gentlemen’s dark-brown check suit, may have “ Thompson and Beattie, Invercargill,” on tag, fit man about 6 ft.; and a pocket diary containing bank receipts and photograph of complainant’s mother and father ; value, £5. Identifiable.
