Accused obtained . £9 18s. 4d. cash, and clothing, value 11s., from Jorgenson’s Ltd., mercers, Pollen Street, by means of a valueless cheque for £lO 9s. 4d., No. 585717. The cheque had been stolen from John Eric Coulthard, for whom Clive Neville Watts, referred to in Police Gazette, 1934, page 523, had worked until the end of January, 1934, and the latter is suspected of being identical with Maxwell. He was in possession of a motor-car, No. 8-739. There are other charges pending.

Accused obtained £7 12s. 6d., cash and goods, value 12s. 6d., from the Wairarapa Farmers’ Co-operative Association, Ltd., by means of a valueless cheque for £lO ss. 6d., which he uttered in payment of £2" off his account.
