PROPERTY STOLEN.

Auckland. On the 30th June last, the dwelling of PERCY McCARTHNEY, 13 Hillsborough Road, was broken into and the following stolen : A child’s money-box (recovered); a gentlemen’s open-face keyless brass Brevo watch ; a gentlemen’s short gold fob-chain, long twisted fancy links, ring on one end; and a gold circular medal, inscribed “P. McCarthney, winner heavy-weight boxing, 1928 ” : total value, £5 2s. 6d. Identifiable.

Auckland. Between the 16th and 18th June last, the cafe of GEORGE SAMUEL SMITH, Lower Nelson Street, was broken into and the following stolen : A gentlemen’s large nickel keyless- pocket watch, screw back and front, English numerals, gilt hands; and a quantity of tobacco, cigarettes, and chocolates total value, £8 11s. Watch identifiable.

Auckland. JOE FONG’S money stolen, referred to in Police Gazette, 1934, page 466 : Suspicion is now attached to Chin Soon, alias Stanley Chin Horne, referred to in Police Gazette, 1933, page 25, who was at one time employed by complainant, and knew where the money was kept. He is believed to have had a good supply of money after the offence was committed, and when informed by another Chinese that he was suspected he disappeared. When located he is to be interviewed regarding the offence. /y

Auckland. — 28th June last, the property of LEWIS EADY, LTD., Queen Street, a Goldentone five-tube superheterodyne wireless-receiver, with a Magnavox speaker, model 114, chassis No. U. 1533 ; value, £ls 10s. Identifiable. The wireless-set was stolen from a doorway at complainant’s premises.

II; two ammunition-belt boxes, No. 8, M.K. I; two ammunitionbelts, -303, two hundred and fifty rounds size ; an ammunitionbelt, Vickers, twenty-five rounds size; a spare parts box, Vickers, -303 M.G. ; a wallet-case, with spare parts and tools, •303, M.G.; a spare lock, No. B. 48 ; an oil-can, M.G. ; a combination tool, M.G. Auckland. — the 3rd ultimo, the dwelling of MARGARET HILL, 20 Maungawhau Road, was broken into and the following stolen: A ladies’ 18 ct. gold ring, set with three diamonds, the size of small peas, in claw setting, diamonds are set separately, the centre stone being the largest; a ladies’ gold Rolex wristlet watch, “ M. Doyle, 3/2/1914 ” scratched on inside of back case, black ribbon wristband; a gentleman’s silver Swiss Rotherhams wristlet-watch with luminous dial, hinge on back case broken, brown leather strap attached; a child’s 18 ct. gold signet ring, with “ G.D.” on shield on it; and ss. sd. in money : total value, £43. Identifiable except money.

Onehunga. — the 23rd June and 4th July last, the property of THOMAS RONALDSON, Waitangi Road, an Ensign folding-camera, size 8|- in. by 6 in. by 2 in., owner’s name on inside ; value, £2 15s. Identifiable.

Te Araroa. the night of the 20th February last, a store, the property of HUGH CASKEY WILLIAMSON, Hick’s Bay, was broken into and the following stolen: A gentlemen’s John Forrest silver lever watch; a gentlemen’s gold curb double watch-chain; four packets of H.M.V. gramophone-needles; a Dax nickel watch; two pairs of white canvas leggings ; aLe Roy trench overcoat; four pairs of Palmer nap trousers, size 7 ; five pairs of blue denim trousers, size 7 ; two pairs of gentlemen’s black shoes, sizes 9 and 10, Wellesley brand ; a pair of gentlemen’s black boots, size 9; a gentlemen’s double-breasted purple-blue overcoat, &c. : total value, £36 19s. Silver watch and gold chain only identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Ihimaera Patarana and Merengi Komene, referred to in Police Gazette, 1933, page 681, and Henry Haukamau, referred to in Police Gazette, 1934, page 195. They have been interviewed, but no evidence resulted.

Te A-r.a-r.oa.Between the 27th and 28th June last, the WAIAPU FARMERS’ CO-OPERATIVE STORE at Cape Runaway was broken into and the following stolen : A Le Roy oilskin overcoat, size 6 ; a carving-knife; a counter docket-book, commencing with No. W 900; a number of singlets, socks, &c. : total value, £2l. Docket-book only identifiable. The post-office, which is in the same building, was also broken into and telephone equipment and switches damaged to the extent of £3 17s. lOd. Suspicion is attached to Ihimaera Patarana and Merengi Komene, referred to in Police Gazette, 1933, page 681, and Ware Taki. They have been interviewed, but no evidence resulted.

New Plymouth. Between March, 1933, and April last, from the New Plymouth Boy’s High School, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Defence Department), a Martini Henry carbine rifle, No. 561, short barrel, under lever action ; value, 10s. Identifiable. Q<— Sue. 'vtf- /7/^/^-

Ohakune. Between the 27th February and 12th June last, from a shed near Pokaka, the property of WEYMOUTH AND FERGUSON, Contractors, Taumarunui, a snatchblock, branded “ L. and R ” ; about ten rolls of black roofroyd; three window frames and sashes, size 3 ft. by 2 ft., four panes in each; a circular-saw with spindle bearing and pulley, pulley 6 in. in diameter made of jarrahwood; a fiveton bottle-jack ; and the following parts of a Ford motor-car : radiator-cap ; head-lamp reflectors ; condenser ; high-tension coil; ampmeter; and drive-shaft with universal joint: total value, £3l. Portion identifiable.

Wellington. —On or about the 7th ultimo, the property of KODAK LTD., photographic suppliers, Lambton Quay, a chromium-plated Weston Cini Exposure meter about 2\ in. in diameter, white glass dial with black figures from 0 to 32, needle-indicator, “ Motion Picture Camera, Weston, No. 627 ” and “2771 ” on it, black vulcanite band and cover on dial, black cloth strap attached to cover, which swings back on swivel; value £6 15s. Identifiable.

Wellington. — FUHRMANN’S shop broken into : A number of stolen watches were sold to a gold-buyer, and the cases melted down. It is believed that the cases of the six ladies’ watches were all dealt with in that way. It has been ascertained that the gentlemen’s gold wristlet-watch stated to have the initials “ L.G.” has “L. George on it (not “ L.G.”). (See Police Gazette, 1934, page 467.)

Christchurch. —On the 31st July last, the dwelling of ETHEL ANNIE SHEATE, 29 Westminster Street, St. Albans, was broken into and the following stolen : Five bedquilts ; a small travelling-rug, grey on one side and fawn check on the other side; a large travelling rug, grey on one side and light and dark grey check on the other side; a ladies’ marmot fur coat, deep-brown shade with brown fining, has been lengthened, and the alteration is noticeable; a ladies’ black velour overcoat, with brown fur collar ; a small dark mahogany mantel clock; a small oak eight-day clock; a ladies’ fawn imitation crocodile-skin hat-box with one flat side, “ Beryl Andrew ” on tag ; a brown morocco case, containing 6 cockle-shell pattern teaspoons, and six plain silver cake forks; a brown morocco case, containing six teaspoons and tea-strainer; a brown morocco case, containing six fish knives and forks, silver plate on case, with “ Presented to Mrs. Sheate by 0.T.Y.W.8.8.C.” ; a pair of Chinese brass candle-sticks; a pair of black-covered fieldglasses, No. 64 Carl Zeiss, Jena Galan, 2/ magnification; an electric hair-dryer in black square box; a ladies’ gold ring, with gold horse-shoe set with seven pearls with a ruby in centre; a ladies’ gold ring, set with three pearls and four rubies; a choker of opals, graduated sizes with small crystals between each opal; a silver chain-choker, with a pendant of sixteen moonstones in seven short rows; a grey squirrel necklet with head and tail, four skins; a gentlemen’s openface rolled-gold watch, either Rotherhams or Waltham make ; an oblong greenstone brooch ; a number of sheets ; a quantity of ladies’ underclothing,,.&p. upotal value, £BO.
