Accused obtained £9 Is. from Joseph Scholium, hotelkeeper, Kaiteratahi, by means of a valueless cheque for £lO which he tendered in payment for the preceding night’s accommodation. He may be in possession of cheques on the Bank of New Zealand, Gisborne, Nos. C. 82007 and C. 82008. There are other charges pending.

Gisborne. — 19th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Gisborne Prison for three days in default of paying £1 15s. fine and costs for being found on licensed premises during prohibited hours, Harold George Arthur Cook, age forty-three, height 5 ft. 11 in., labourer, native of Australia, strong build, dark complexion, black hair turning grey, blue eyes ; well dressed in a navy-blue suit, felt hat, and black shoes, and wears a gold watch-chain.
