PROPERTY STOLEN.

Auckland.— Between the 24th and 26th ultimo, from a room in the Porchester Private Hotel, the property of GRACE GLOVER, a ladies’ velour overcoat with musquash fur collar and cuffs; a ladies’ brown leather coat, belt at waist, slightly worn at buckle, lined with silk, fleecy-lined pockets; a ladies’ blue crepe frock, trimmed at neck, half-puff sleeves of blue, black, and white check; a ladies’ powder-blue silk pinafore-frock with belt and mother-of-pearl buckle; a pair of ladies’ blue and white canvas sand-shoes, size 4; a cigarette-lighter ; a square-face chromium-plated alarm-clock with luminous dial; and an oblong Chinese cigarette-box, with greenstone circle in centre of lid : total value, £l2. Portion identifiable.

Auckland. Between the 27th and 28th ultimo, the Paeroa Railway-station, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Railways Department) was broken into and the following stolen : £3 in notes, and £9 18s. 3d. in silver, in white canvas bag, with brass eyelet and strap at neck, bag branded “ Collected Ticket Depot, Wellington ” ; £3 in silver and coppers in cash-box tray (portion of the money consisted of two rolls of forty threepenny pieces wrapped in railway advertising leaflets, and two rolls of sixty pennies wrapped in similar paper; the cash-tray had three compartments, one of which was broken); £3 in a cash-box of black with gold lines, size 8 in. by 12 in. by 4 in. ; a light-blue safedrawer with brass handle, may have “ 183/46 R.” or “ L.” on back end ; and a large black iron key : total value, £2O 18s. 3d. Identifiable except money. The money was stolen from a safe, which was opened by means of explosives : blue fuse, aluminium detonators, and gelignite had been used.

Auckland. On the 4th instant, the dwelling of HAROLD DOMINIC CONSTANCE, 68 Ellerton Road, Mount Eden, was broken into and the following stolen : A suit-case; a suit; a pair of trousers ; a vest; three strings of beads ; and two strings of pearls (recovered); a gentlemen’s lightgrey worsted suit; a pair of black cashmere socks; a pair of Domo braces ; a gold brooch, shape of wishbone ; and an ivory brooch, shape of rose : total value, £ls 15s. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached tolll George Lee, age about fifty, height / egnpkjxion, blue eyes, broad shoulders ; "'mammy m a (Slue or grey suit, grey felt hat, blue check shirt;) foreign appearance : and (2) John Graham. The latter has been arrested and charged with offence. Recovered articles had been sold to second-hand dealers.

Auckland. 22nd ultimo, from a room in the Metropolitan Hotel, the property of LEAH MILLER, a clock (recovered); a navy-blue writing-case ; and a ladies’ gold wristlet-watch with black wristlet: total value, £6 10s. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to James Manning, age forty, height about 5 ft. 8 in., engineer; wearing a dark suit and bluegrey cap. He sold the clock to a pawnbroker.

Auckland. —On the 4th instant, a shop, the property of SMELTERS AND REFINERS CO., 166 Queen Street, was broken into and the following stolen: About twelve 18 ct. gold wedding rings ; a 9 ct. gold thick wedding ring ; a 15 ct. gold ring, set with a pearl; a small gold ring, consisting of an outer circle and an inner circle with small gold bars leading to small diamonds in centre; a 9 ct. gold cameo ring; a gold dress ring, set with about eighteen white sapphires; two or three gold rings, set with rubies and diamonds; two or three gold rings, set with sapphires and diamonds; a gold ring, set with three sapphires in crossover; two or three small diamond rings; eight Canadian dollar bills ; about seven ladies’ gold wristlet-watches, some Rolex make, with expanding bracelets; rolled gold watch-cases, sovereigncases, lockets, &c. : total value, £lO4. Portion identifiable.

Hamilton.. On the 10th ultimo, the Katikati Railwaystation, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Railways Department) was broken into and the following stolen : Three bottles of Maderia Te Kauwhata wine; and £4 10s. lid. in money. Not identifiable. The money was stolen from a safe, which was opened by means of explosives.

Kihikihi.— the 23rd and 24th November last, from a motor-car, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Public Works Department), a prismatic compass in a gun-metal case, 3| in. in diameter, sliding sightattached ; value, £4 10s. Identifiable.

New Plymouth. Between the 20th and 21st instant, from a room in the Chetwode Private Hotel, the property of ERNEST SYDNEY BRIDGER, a leather attache-case, size about 15 in. by 10 in. by 4 in., nickel fittings, “ Ernest Robert Bridger ”on inside of lid; a blue-grey shirt with collar to match; a white shirt; a light-blue canoe shirt, size 154 in. neck; a pair of leather gloves; a blue and black mixture check pullover; three pairs of short underpants, Aertex * brand; and three white sleeveless singlets : total value, £4 10s. New Plymouth. 2lst instant, from 78 Courtenay Street, I the property of KATE ELLEN OR STANS FIELD and another, a gold-mounted greenstone bar-brooch, with “ N.Z.” in centre ; a 9 ct. gold brooch, with horse-shoe in centre, with fine gold chain attached ; a gold wedding ring ; a ladies’ gold wristlet-watch, engraved on back, with gold expanding wristlet attached ; a ladies’ muff-chain, with Krueger half-sovereign attached; a gold half-hoop engagement ring, set with five diamonds; a gold dress ring, set with sapphire in centre, with ruby on each side surrounded by small diamonds; and about £2 in money : total value, £34 10s. Blenheim.— the 11th November and 18th ultimo, the property of JOHN WILLIAM ADAMS, Club Hotel, Timaru, an Ikon folding camera, Zeiss 45 lens, bellows patched with white adhesive-plaster, wire view-finder missing, takes 120 film ; value, £lO 10s. Identifiable.

Oamaru. 3rd instant, from a tent at Wirth’s Circus, Tekaro Park, the property of GEORGE ANDERSON, farmer, Herbert, a Mosgiel woollen rug, large size, green-grey check on one side, dark-green with dark fleck running through it on the other side ; value, £5. Identifiable.

Dunedin.— ROßEßT HEWITT’S premises broken into at Alexandra, referred to in Police Gazette, 1934, page 38. It has now been ascertained that the following articles were also stolen : A gentlemen’s brown heather tweed overcoat, Raglan sleeves, size 5, grease-spots on bottom ; a gentlemen’s silver hunting Dennison watch ; a gentlemen’s gold-coloured Amida watch ; and a gentlemen’s gold ring, set with a small ruby; value, £9 15s. Identification doubtful. A quantity of cigarettes and tobacco, value £l4 13s. 4d., referred to in Police Gazette, 1934, page 38, has been recovered.
