Accused, who was staying at the Commercial Hotel, stole from a bedroom in the hotel a blank cheque, the property of Simms McNally and Mark Solomon, who were also staying there, forged the signatures “ S. McNally ” and “ J. Soliom ” to the cheque, and uttered it to Maurice Valdemar Bernstein, watchmaker, in payment of £1 Is. fid. for a wristlet-watch, receiving £3 Bs. 6d. cash.
