Appearance of a labourer. The cheque was posted at Wanganui to complainant; he did not receive it, and two days later it was cashed at the National Bank of New Zealand, Wanganui. No warrant.

Palmerston North. — instant, on warrant for false pretences, J. C. Hill (name probably fictitious), age about twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 9 in., medium build, dark hair, thin face, small dark moustache; wearing horn-rimmed glasses ; dressed in a blue suit, black shoes, fawn spats, a double-breasted navy-blue overcoat, and a bowler hat, Tress make, with “ J.C.H.” stamped on inside. Accused obtained goods, value £ll3s. 9d. and £4 15s. 9d. in cash from Millar and Giorgi, gentlemen’s outfitters, The Square, by means of a valueless cheque for £6 10s. He said he was Dr. J/C. Hill, and had taken over a practice in Foxton.
