Auckland. — 13th ultimo, on warrant for falling to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of Freda Mary Wells and child, Bert Wells, age about thirtyseven, height 6 ft. 2 in., labourer and bushman, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, black hair, hazel eyes; woman’s hand holding flowers on one arm; one finger injured, a portion of which is believed to be missing. He is in possession of a Rugby tourer motor-car (registration No. 16-910, engine No. E. 300804, red body and black hood), and when he is located the police are to take possession of it until arrangements are made to return it to the owner at /Palmerston North. (See Police Gazette, and 743.) / Auckland. —19th ultimo, for assault < and robbery—(l) Man (name unknown), age about thirty-three, height about 5 ft. 8 in., medium build, dark-tanned complexion, dark hair, gold tooth in right upper jaw; dressed in dark trousers and dark-green blazer with gold stripes (no hat); and (2) woman (name unknown), age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 6 in., medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair and eyebrows; wearing a dark silk coat or dress, and dark beret. About 9.45 p.m. on the 19th ultimo, in Point Chevalier Road, the accused assaulted Mary Eileen Spires and robbed her of a handbag (recovered), containing £4 12s. No warrant.

Accused, before leaving his employment with S. R. and H. L. Sweetman, stole the cheque from the latter’s coat-pocket, and cashed it at the National Bank of New Zealand, Hamilton. Accused obtained a pair of trousers and £1 3s. from Arthur William Hambling, Cash Stores, by means of a valueless cheque for £2 2s. 6d. Wellington. l6th ultimo, for assault and robbery, Man (name unknown), age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 9 in., medium build ; dressed in a blue suit and grey-fawn felt hat with flat brim. About 11 p.m. accused walked into a Chinese shop in Moxham Avenue, where Ngan Kay Fun was alone. He assaulted and menaced the latter with a revolver, and stole £6 from the cash-register. No warrant.

Nelson. —22nd December last, on two warrants of commitment to Nelson Prison for eight days and five days in default of paying £4 10s. fine and costs for driving a motor-lorry without having obtained a heavy-traffic license, and driving a motor-lorry without having a driver’s license, Francis Victor Yarker, age about twenty-three, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium/ build, sallow compiexion.
