Auckland.— On the 23rd ultimo, the dwelling of CECILE RICHARDS, 586 Dominion Road, was broken into and the following stolen: A pair of 18 ct. gold diamond solitaire earrings for pierced ears ; an 18 ct. gold brooch, set with diamonds in shape of a horse-shoe, with large sapphire in centre; an 18 ct. gold brooch, in shape of two horse-shoes and bugle, which has platinum ends, one of the shoes is set with diamonds and emeralds, and the other with rubies and diamonds, a stone missing from each shoe ; an 18 ct. gold bangle, set with two large diamonds, with a tail of small diamonds after each, representing comet stars; an 18 ct. gold half-hoop ring, set with three diamonds in claw setting; an 18 ct. gold half-hoop ring, set with five diamonds in claw setting ; an 18 ct. gold ring, set with a ruby, diamond, and sapphire in gipsy setting ; an 18 ct. gold ring, set with five large rubies, with diamond chips between rubies ; an 18 ct. gold curb bracelet and padlock attached, with “ C.R. Xmas 1917 ” engraved on it; and £4 17s. in money : total value, £284 7s. Identifiable except money.

r Auckland. — the 22nd and 24th October last, the factory of ALFRED WOOLNOUGH, 111 Nelson Street, Freeman’s Bay, was broken into and the following stolen : A Swan self-filling fountain-pen ; a cheque-book on the Bank of Australasia, Queen Street, Auckland, containing thirty cheques, Nos. 618621 to 618650 ; and a cheque for £ll 7s. 3d. on the National Bank of New Zealand, Newmarket, No. S. 97342, drawn by Watson and Holmes in favour of A. Woolnough : total value, £1 15s. 2d. Cheques only identifiable.

Suspicion is attached to Two Men (names unknown) Age about thirty-six, height 6 ft., slight build, fresh complexion ; wearing a dark suit and fawn hat ; (2) age about forty, height 5 ft. 8 in., medium build, dark complexion; wearing a black suit and dark felt hat. The mentioned suspect may be identical with James Logie, alias Kelly, referred to in Police Gazette, 1932, page 485 (the New Plymouth police interviewed him in connection with this offence, but no evidence resulted), or with Richard Haslam Smith, referred to in Police Gazette, 1930, page' 447.
