Warkworth. — 15th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £2 ss. fine and costs for a breach of the Motor-vehicles Act, D. Bain, age thirty, salesman. He left this Dominion for Australia on the 22nd March last. <fccf n/i/H. Auckland. — 18th instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his child, Hugh iVldnnes, age fifty-two, height about 5 ft. 7 in., carpenter and labourer, native of Scotland, medium build, ruddy complexion, dark-brown hair, grey eyes, broken nose; usually well dressed. Auckland. sth instant, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for one month in default of paying £4 arrears on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Laurie Angus, age twenty-three, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, scar on right foreaim, and,, on right, leg. W U/y/ 3 _ , Auckland. 9th ultimq/ for false pretences, G. Simms (name probably fictitious), age about thirty-seven, height 5 ft. 7 in., stout build, sallow complexion; dressed in a brown or blue suit, blue gabardine overcoat, and fawn felt hat. Accused obtained £3 Os. lid. cash, and goods, value, 3s. Id., from Ella Booker, Ambury’s Dairy, Grey Lynn, by means of a valueless cheque for £3 4s. There is another charge pending. No warrant.

Te Aroiia. 27th ultimo, on warrant for false pretences, John Albert Roberts, age twenty-nine, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer and laundryman, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, brown eyes, scar on right side of abdomen and on tip of left middle-finger. He is in possession of a Ford truck, No. L. 7-356. Accused obtained £1 as a deposit on an order of benzine and oil from Wilfred Samuel Harvey, farmer, Te Kawana Road, by falsely representing that he was a traveller for W. S. Miller, motordealers, Auckland. (See Police Gazette, 1931. page 660, and Photographs, 1923, page 31.)^* „ /t-f/a/ Hamilton. On or about the 2nd instant, on warrant lor theft of a milk billy,” a pillow, a floor-mat, and 3s. 5d., the property of Catherine Pittar, domestic, Hukanui Road, Thomas Wilton, age about fifty-six, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, fresh complexion, black hair turning grey, blue eyes, black moustache. The property was stolen from complainant’s dwelling, and was subsequently found in a room occupied by accused. Ohakune. —l7th May last, on warrant for false pretences, J. A. Crawford, age forty-three, height 5 ft. 11 in., canvasser, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair turning grey, brown eyes; dressed in a brown or fawn suit and overcoat. Accused obtained £1 from Gladys White, garage assistant, by falsely representing that he was the proprietor of a printing and publishing business at Palmerston North, and would print five-hundred cards with an advertisement respecting White’s Motor-garage on each. He may be identical with John Anthony Crawford, referred to in Police Gazette, 1931, page 657, and Photographs, 1928, page 6 - /t*/r/s-*>

Wanganui.— lst April last, on warrant for obtaining credit by fraud, Gantle, age about thirty-six, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, medium build, very dark complexion ; wearing a blue suit. Accused obtained from the S.O.S. Motors a passage from New Plymouth to Palmerston North, value £1 7s. 6d., by falsely stating that he had a position with the Power Board, Palmerston North. Accused may he identical with Thomas Kendall, alias Burns, referred to in Police Gazette, 1931, pase6Maw^/u

Palmerston North. sth April last, on warrant for theft of £2, the property of Electrolux Co., Ltd., Cuba Street, C. M. Stowers-Crowley, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 10 in., clerk and salesman, native of New Zealand, slight build, fair complexion, auburn hair, blue eyes ; well dressed. Accused received from Norman Simpson, Oaonui, a cheque for £2 as an instalment on an electrolux-cleaner, and failed to pay it to his employers. Wellington. —l4th May last, for theft of a bicycle (recovered), value £2, the property of William Ernest Ledger, Henry Porter (name probably fictitious), age about nineteen, height about 5 ft., thin build, dark complexion ; dressed in a dark suit. The bicycle was recovered at a second-hand shpp, where it had been sold by the above-described man for 10s. No warrant.

Wellington. 2sth instant, that he may be located with a view to enforcing the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Daisy Kathleen House, 91 Rowe Street, Fitzroy, Victoria, Australia, Carl Partly House, or Carl Pandy House, age thirty-one, height 5 ft. 6 in., rubber-worker, slight build, dark complexion, black hair, dark eyes, long nose, large mouth, long eyelashes ; usually dressed in a dark suit and rubber coat. He is said to be accompanied by Mrs. Pearl Attrill. Their Photographs are filed. (P. 32/942.)

Wellington. Bth December last, for false pretences, H. C. Johnson (name probably fictitious), age about fortyseven, height 5 ft. 11 in., slight build, sallow complexion, dark hair turning grey, large white moustache ; dressed in a heather-coloured suit and felt hat turned down in front; loud harsh voice. Accused obtained from Dalgety and Co. twelve wide Wolseley combs and twelve wide Wolseley cutters for sheep shearing-machines, value £4 Is. lid., by falsely representing that he had been authorized by James Wall, farmer, Pukerua Bay, to obtain them. No warrant.

Christchurch.— l7th instant, on warrant for failing to provide for the maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, James McCarten, age twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, sallow complexion, dark hair, brown eyes, bent nose, left little-finger disfigured; dressed in fawn flannel trousers, brown coat, navy-blue flannel shirt, brown hat, tan shoes, red and black scarf, and brown overcoat. Complainant, Irene Redmond, domestic, Halkett.

Christchurch. 3rd instant, on warrant of commitment to Paparua Prison for two months in default of paying £l3 Is. 6d. fine and costs for being intoxicated in charge of a motor-car, Leonard Lawrence Malmanche, referred to/in Police Gazette, 1932, pages 489 and 498. ‘y& c c/ /yty/SS

Southbridge.— 9th instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Caroline Emma Howatson, lan Douglas HowatSOn, age twenty-three, height 6 ft. 1 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair, dark-grey eyes, long scar on back of one hand; dressed in a navy-blue suit with double-breasted coat and turned-up cuffs, or a brown suit and coloured lumber jacket; quiet manner; fond of football. Ashburton.— Herbert Glasson, default of fine and costs, has remitted 7s. by post. The sum of ss. is still due on the warrant. (See Police Gazette, 1932, page 378.) £

Timaru. —18th instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Jean Morris, and children, John Edgar Morris, alias Jack O’Malley, alias John Morris, age thirty-seven, height 5 ft. 6f in., seaman and labourer, native of England, strong build, fresh complexion, dark hair turning grey, blue eyes. Invercargill. —lsth instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Elizabeth Helen Hooker, Christopher George Hooker, age fifty-five, height 5 ft. in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, grey hair, eyes, and moustache, scar on top of head, left thumb missing.
