PERSONS WANTED.

Waekwoeth. —4th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for three days in default of paying £1 15s. fine and costs for breach of motor-lorry regulations, A. Holm, age twenty-nine, height 5 ft. 9 in., motor-driver, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, brown hair.

Auckland. 24th September last, on warrant for false pretences, S. Lee, age about thirty, height 5 ft. 6 in., salesman, medium build, fair complexion and hair, decayed teeth, Jewish appearance ; dressed in a brown suit and light tweed overcoat; wears horn-rimmed spectacles with thick lens ; slightly stooped. Accused obtained ten dozen pairs of gentlemen’s socks and six suit-lengths, value £26 18s. 10d., from Ambler and Co., Ltd., 54 Wellesley Street West, by falsely representing that he was M. Bresh. There are other charges pending.

Auckland. —About the 11th September last, that a summons may be served upon her for theft of a letter and five postal orders (recovered), value £2, the property of Marino Lovrien, Sturges Road, Henderson, Marie White, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 7 in., shop assistant, native of Dalmatia, medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair, brown eyes.

Auckland. —13th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for four months in default of paying £39 arrears on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, C. N. Taueanga.— ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Minnie Harvey Edmonds, Otumoetai, Ronald William Edmonds, age thirty-nine, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, fair hair, grey eyes ; stooped; seldom wears a hat.

Kihikihi. —Between the 15th and 29th January last, on warrant for theft of a cheque for £lO, the property of Sydney Bowen, George Evans, alias Griffin, age about forty-three, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, stout build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes; two fingers missing from right hand and one finger missing from left hand. The cheque was posted to complainant by the Onehunga Orphanage, and it was discovered later that the accused cashed it at a local store.

Opotiki. Between the 10th and 11th ultimo, on warrant for theft of a can of cream, value £1 10s., the property of William Reginald Walker, farmer, Tirohanga, Gilbert Clalklen, age about twenty-one, height 5 ft. 5 in., farm hand, native of New Zealand, strong build, sallow complexion, light-brown hair, hazel eyes ; untidy appearance. Masteeton. —26th January last, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Mary Wynfrida Spiers, 3 Hauraki Road, Takapuna, Auckland, Alexander Douglas Spiers, age fifty-two, height 5 ft. 10 in., architect, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, curly grey hair, blue eyes. Arrears to 4th July, 1930, £45 2s.

Wellington. l4th ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Joseph Laurance Halpin, alias Joseph Lawrence, referred to in Police Gazette, 1931, page 347. Arrears to 21st March last, £370 10s. -J /■ si* *7- v •

Wellington. Between the 17th and 19th January last, for theft of a ladies’ wristlet-watch and six stainless knives (recovered), value £4 10s., the property of Phyllis Newton, 17 Mortimer Terrace, F. Taylor (name probably fictitious), age about forty, height about 5 ft. 9 in., cook, prominent nose ; wearing a dark shabby suit. The articles were stolen from complainant’s dwelling and sold to a second-hand dealer. No warrant.

Wellington. sth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for seven days in default of paying £2 15s. fine and costs for being found on licensed premises during prohibited hours, Clifford Baxter, age thirty, height 5 ft. 5 in., tailor, native of England, slight build, pale complexion, fair hair, blue eyes ; wearing a grey suit, grey overcoat, and tan shoes. Wellington.— lßth ultimo, on warrant for theft of a Stewart Warner radio set, value £27 16s. 6d. (recovered), the property of Levestam and Co., Lambton Quay, W. A. Anderson, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 6 in., surveyor, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair. Accused obtained the radio set on approval, and had it installed in a room at the Terminus Hotel. He subsequently sold it to a second-hand dealer. The photograph of Albert Edward Arthur Hamilton, referred to in Police Gazette, 1928, page 395, and Photographs, 1932, page 17, has been identified as that of accused. Christchurch. 22nd ultimo, on warrant lor theft of a Stewart Warner radio set, value £27 10s. (recovered), the property of Hope Gibbons, Ltd., W. A. Burgess, age twentyfive, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, dark complexion and hair. Accused obtained the radio set on approval, and had it installed in a room at the Hotel Cecil. He subsequently sold it to a second-hand dealer.
