PROPERTY STOLEN.

Auckland. Between the Ist and 18th ultimo, from the dwelling of FLORENCE JONES, 27 Dedwood Terrace, Ponsonby, a ladies’ 18 ct. gold ring, set with five diamonds in half hoop, one diamond missing; and a half-sovereign gold-bar brooch : total value, £25. Identifiable.

Hamilton. —Between the 3rd and 4th instant, the premises of FOW, COBBE, AND CO., LTD., Collingwood Street, were broken into and £94 15s. 2d. (consisting of £2O in silver, two half-sovereigns, and the balance in £1 notes and 10s. notes and copper) stolen from a safe which was opened by means of explosives. Not identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Charles Barclay Dewar, referred to in Police Gazette, 1932, page 81, and Photographs, 1928, page 56, who has been interviewed but no evidence resulted. He has been sentenced to two months for a breach of his probationary license.

Wanganui. On the 4th instant, the dwelling of FREDERICK JOHNSTON, farmer, Waverlev, was broken into and the following stolen : A black coney seal fur coat, with black rolled skunk collar and cuffs, fancy brown lining, may have name “F. Johnston sewn in one sleeve ; a ladies’ cluster ring, set with a diamond either side of cluster; a ladies’ signet ring, set with large red stone, claw setting; a ladies’ ring, set with rubies and diamonds, in straight setting; a string of yellow amber beads, with earrings to match ; a silver sovereign-case, with “ F.J. 1902” engraved on hack; a pair of sleeve-links, made from Kruger sixpences ; a mounted Kruger sovereign; two British sovereigns, probably dated 1928; a gentlemen’s navy-blue coat and vest, may have name “ McSkimming ” on tab; a. grey-green garbardine overcoat, may have name “ McSkimming ” on tab ; a ladies’ manicure-set, in folding case, with ivory handles; a brown leather Gladstone bag, “ G.J. ” on plate on one side : total value, £9B. Dannevirke. —Between the 9th and 11th ultimo, from a room in the Mangatera Hotel, the property of JOHN BENTLEY GRAHAM, proprietor, two white china antique vases, with red flowers on them, about 8 in. high, shape of a creme-de-menthe bottle; and several towels : total value, £25 10s. Vases only identifiable. Suspicion is attached to four showmen named McDonald, known as “ Maori Dick Morion,” Shaw, —— Walsh, and Webb. One of the suspects

Ashhurst. —On the 16th instant, the dwelling of WILLIAM CURRIE, farmer, was broken into and the following stolen : A ladies’ open-face gold watch, with a granny-chain attached ; a ladies’ gold ring, set with three diamonds ; a pair of gentlemen’s reddish-brown tweed trousers ; a gentlemen’s grey felt hat, with “ F. R. Currie ” on leather band ; and £3 in money : total value, £2B ss. Identifiable except money.

Palmerston North. —On the 21st instant, the dwelling of PATRICK FRANCIS O’CONNER, 2 Ferguson Street, was broken into and the following stolen : A 9 ct. gold wristletwatch, No. 225710, A/S, W/O, and W 4 ” scratched on inside of case ; a ladies’ 15 ct. gold wristlet-watch, No. 66223, set with about thirty diamonds around rim, “ P. F. O’Conner ” on dial; a platinum and gold bracelet; a ladies’ ring, set with five diamonds in -hoop, sides worn; a Peschaniki fur coat with skunk collar, body lined with green brocade, sleeves lined with brown brocade ; a pair of prism binoculars, Le Maire make, in leather case; a pair of prism binoculars, made by Gaoos Ltd., London, in leather case; a pair of prism binoculars, small size, in leather case ; a pocket-knife, marked “ Apis Unstainable ”; an Ensign camera, post-card size, in leather case, “J. Shaw ” stamped on camera and case; and a fawn rubber coat, with large check lining, belt attached, “ Windex Reg.U.S. Pat. Off. United States Rubber Company on tag : total value, £217. Identifiable.

Wellington. 2sth instant, from the dwelling of LOW FOO, fruiterer, £723, in £1 and 10s. notes. Suspicion is attached to Charlotte Kaui, alias Mrs. Chapman, alias Lottie Young, age twenty-five, height about 5 ft. 5 in., native of Honolulu, slight build, sallow spotted complexion, dark fuzzy hair (bushy at sides), uses face-powder and lipstick freely, a half-caste Hawaiian-Chinese, and has halfcaste Maori appearance; may be dressed in a red, green, pink, or black dress, jet black raincoat with tight belt, white hat drooping at sides with pink gibbon, or jet black hat with (hr fates'- 3 y

broad rim and bunch of white flowers on right side of front of hat, or a green or red beret, and white kid shoes with red or blue toes and heels, or black patent leather shoes with green toes and heels, and wears a round gold wristlet watch with black or blue band, and a gold band ring, set with a grey stone about h in. long. Accused occupied the same bedroom as complainant, and whilst the latter was asleep she stole from his pocket the keys of his safes, which she opened, stole the money referred to, and disappeared. She may have three suit-cases, and may be accompanied by Claude Reginald Chapman, age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 11 in., slight build, fair complexion, dark-brown hair, blue eyes ; dressed in a brick-coloured suit and light Stetson hat, and wears black horn-rimmed glasses.

Nelson. —Between the 29th ultimo and Ist instant, from a garage at “ Uplands,” Waimea Road, the property of CONSTANCE TERESA DECK, a suit-case, containing a quantity of ladies’ wearing apparel, &c. (portion recovered) ; twenty-four ladies’ white cotton handkerchiefs, marked “ Constance Deck ” ; a ladies’ gold wristlet-watch, with black ribbon wristlet attached, may be marked “ Hall and Sons ” ; and a silver brooch, with a purple amethyst in centre : total value, £ls. Identifiable.

Timaru. —Between the 17th and 30th November last, in transit between Wellington and Timaru, the property of ELIZABETH PRETORIA LE CREN, Orton, Temuka, two silver candlesticks, with St. John’s crest (emblem of an eagle) on them; a minx fur coat, with fox collar, mauve lining with small burn near inside of left pocket; three gentlemen’s taffeta shirts; three gentlemen’s silk bow ties, with “ Waters, Burlington Arcade, London ” on them ; a brief-bag, marked “ Carson ” in corner ; two hundred C.P.R. (Railway) shares; and a pair of brogue shoes, size 5, Lobb make : total value, £l3l. Identifiable.
