Papakura. —On or about the 26th December last, on warrant for theft of a cheque for £9 2s. 10d., the property of Thomas Shaw, farmer, Ness Valley, Clevedon, Bi'UCS Douglas, age about forty-eight, height about 5 ft. Sin., labourer and bushman, native of New Zealand, strong build, swarthy complexion, dark-brown hair; usually dressed in navy blue trousers and grey sports coat. Hamilton. —-On or about the 3rd January last, on warrant for forgery and uttering, J. Mclntosh, age about twenty, height about 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, sallow complexion, black hair, blue eyes, thin face; dressed in cream trousers with wide black stripes, blue serge coat, and white tennis-shoes. Accused forged the signature of S. M. Alderson to a cheque for £1 55., and uttered it to Edwin Charles Sutcliffe, taxi-proprietor. He had pre- / viously been employed by S. M. Alderson, farmer. Taumarunui. —On or about the 29th June, 1931, for false pretences, Frederick Weir, alias Randell, age twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer and mill hand, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair, brown eyes, prominent teeth ; speaks slowly; scar on back of ear. Accused obtained £l3 from Richard David Cole, labourer, Waimiha, by falsely representing that he required the money to have his motor-car at Papakura repaired. No /Warrant. Palmerston North. — 10th instant, on warrant for unlawfully using a motor-car, the property of Mrs. Oliver Zingra Skipper, Hastings, Howard Psjdney, referred to in Police Gazette, 1930, page 589. Accused, in company with John Lewis Kerr (who has been arrested), took the car from Hastings and drove it to Palmerston North, whofe-it has beremrecovered. — jfa/ ZS73

costumes (recovered), value £1 65., the property of Basil Ramsay Webster, estate-agent, Hurman Street, Karori, Charles Miller, age about thirty-seven, height 5 ft. 11 in., strong build; well dressed in a blue suit. The costumes were stolen from a motor-car in Brandon Street, and sold in a second-hand shop. No warrant.

Wellington. 9th instant, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for two months in default of paying £5 fine for theft, Roy Stanley Sutton, referred to in Police Gazette, 1931, page 75. rmn>?L

Wellington. —2oth January last, on warrant for theft of an overcoat (recovered), value £3, the property of John Oliver Carlyle, John Bray, age about fifty, height 6 ft., labourer, strong build, ruddy complexion ; shabbily dressed in a brown suit ; fond of drink. Wellington. 4th January last, ’for false pretences, A. Hansen (name probably fictitious), age about thirty-five, height about 5 ft. 7 in., native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, curly black hair; dressed in light-coloured trousers and blue coat. Accused obtained a three-cell thirteenplate Clyde battery (No. 66265, and T.N. 13, “ Clyde Engineering Coy.” stamped on side, in nearly-square black rubber case, value £5) from the Clyde Battery Service Station, 74 Dixon Street, by falsely representing that it was for Mr. T. Richardson, Roseneath. No warrant.

Wellington. —sth January last, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for three days in default of paying £1 15s. fine and costs for unlawfully delivering possession of a firearm, George Edward Jarvis, butcher, (No further description available.) %u/ 19/3/33.
