PROPERTY STOLEN.

4Devonport.— l7th ultimo, from a bathing-shed, the property of JOYCE HAZEL TAPP, 177 Vauxhall Road, a ladies’ gold wristlet-watch, fifteen jewels, with plain moire strap; value, £5. Identifiable.

Auckland. — the sth and Bth ultimo, from a shed at the Auckland Grammar School, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Defence Department), three carbine rifles, Nos. 191, 739, and 1304 (recovered); three •303 calibre magazine Enfield carbine rifles, old models, Nos. 629, 735, and 1237; and nine grey rubber groundsheets, size 6 ft. by 3 ft., branded “ N.Z. Govt.” : total value, £lO 17s. 6d. Rifles only identifiable.

Auckland. —Between the 18th and 19th January last, from Brooklyn Plats, the property of LEO LIEGE KRONFELD, ten large white bath-towels with “ K ” and “ Joyce Kronfeld ” on each; an Irish linen tablecloth with “Joyce Kronfeld” on it; six Irish linen serviettes with “ Joyce Kronfeld” on them; four gentlemen’s white shirts, sizes 6 and 7 ; twentyfour handkerchiefs with “K” on them; two double sheets and two pillow-slips with “ J.K.” on them; about eight towels with “ K ” on them ; and a white bath-mat with green border : total value, £l4. Identifiable.

Te Awamutu.— the night of the 26th ultimo, the store of W. H. BELL, Pirongia, was broken into and the following stolen : A motor-jacket, trimmed with brown velvet; three rugs ; twelve shirts ; six pairs of tennis-shoes, sizes 8 and 9; eight gentlemen’s ties; four boxes of gentlemen’s handkerchiefs, Pyramid brand; twenty-four red and khaki handkerchiefs ; two pairs of gum-boots, sizes 8 and 9 ; four fibre-cane suit-cases, size 18 in. by 26 in.; a small leather suit-case ; two Bengal razors; a quantity of cigarettes, chocolate, benzine, &c. : total value, £23 7s. Id. Portion identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Charles William Bennett, alias Richard Jones, referred to in Police Gazette, 1932, page 151, and 'Photographs, 1931, page 13; and Edgar William Allen, alias Roy Norris, referred to in Police Gazette, 1932, page 151, and Photographs, 1922, page 29. They are also suspected of breaking into the shop of Wijliam George Milgate and stealing 'fa /b/3/3. —'New Plymouth. —Between the 13th and 20th ultimo, the property of GEORGE LESLIE STONEX, Tataraimaka, a motor-driver’s license, No. 1538, issued by the Taranaki County Council on 23/8/31.

Inglewood. Between 1921 and 1932, the property of the BANK OF NEW ZEALAND, a six-shot revolver, “ The British Constabulary ” on top of breech.

Dannevirke. —Between the 16th and 30th January last, the dwelling of CATHERINE EDITH FRENCH, 16 Burn Street, was broken into and the following stolen : A table model Columbia gramophone; six teaspoons, marked “ E.P.N.S.W.T.” ; six silver teaspoons, marked “ L.G.U.” ; a gentlemen’s gold hunting watch ; a gentlemen’s gold watchchain with large round links; a three-cell torch ; a ladies’ open-face silver watch; a ladies’ silver watch-chain with small links ; a gold ring-shape earring ; a gold wedding ring; a hot-water bag with pink cover, and “ J.H.” on it; • a boy’s cream cardigan, with blue, gold, and brown collar; a pair of wirespun double sheets, marked “C. E. French”; a travelling-rug, mixed colours in small squares ; a squareshaped basket, &c. : total value, £2l. Portion identifiable.

Wanganui. —On 17th ultimo, the shop of WILLIAM JOSEPH ROBINSON, Waverley, was broken into and the following stolen : 8J yds. grey flannel; 84 yds. white curtainette ; five pairs ladies’ hose ; two pairs of double sheets ; a white tablecloth, 58 in. square; a supper-cloth, with hemstitched border; 44 yds. tea-towelling; a ladies’fawn cardigan, O.S. size; a ladies’ white nightdress, nainsook material; a ladies’ black handbag, with pale green on one side; and three pairs of scissors : total value, £6 15s. 6d. Not identifiable.

Palmerston North. Between the 4/1/32 and 14/2/32, from the farm of FREDERICK GROTIAN, Pohangina., about sixty Romney cross four-tooth ewes, ear-marked with notch out of front, back, and tip of right ear, and notch out of front of left ear, or notch out of front, .back, and tip of right ear, and square notch out of tip of left ear : total value, £3O. Identifiable.

Wellington. —Between the 24th and 25th ultimo, the warehouse of J. H. WHITTAKER AND SONS, 210 Vivian Street, was broken into and the following stolen : A quantity of chocolate; 9 lb. of Easter eggs, &c. : total value, £ll. Identification doubtful. /i&ccrvaud)Zy/u/3^

Wellington. Between the 11th and 13th ultimo, the launch “ Vagabond,” the property of ARTHUR MOODY HOLMES, 12 Konini Road, was broken into and the following stolen, the property of Charles Featherstone Bremner : A •303 Lee Enfield service rifle, No. 2586 ; and a double-barrelled breech-loading shot-gun, No. 9480, made by J. 0. Mayne, London, repaired at stock with small silver plate : total value, £7. Identifiable.

Wellington. On the 20th ultimo, the premises of JOSIAH TOWERSEY, 166 Vivian Street, were broken into and the following stolen : A 14 ct. gold hunting Sun Waltham watch, Roman numerals; a 9 ct. gold double watch-chain, with roped links, with small pendant-chain attached ; and a whitemetal sovereign-case, containing a Kruger half-sovereign: total value, £ls. Identifiable.

Wellington.— Between the 16th and 17th ultimo, from a building during erection at Quadrant, Miramar, the property of HARRY ROWNTREE, 166 Seatoun Heights, two bevels, branded “ Rowntree ” ; a wooden smoothing-plane, branded “ Rowntree ”; a canvas bit-roll, containing about twenty bits; a brace; two chisels, one branded “ H.R.”; a rip-saw, branded “ H.R.” ; a panel-saw; two screw-drivers, &c. : total value, £7 16s. Wellington. 4th ultimo, from a motor-car in Dixon Street, the property of MYER LUBRANSKY, 41 Dixon Street, a leather suit-case, size 20 in. by 16 in., containing tailor’s samples ; and a gentlemen’s grey garbardine overcoat, raglan sleeves : total value, £7 10s. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Man (name unknown), age about twentytwo, height 5 ft. 6 in., medium build, fair complexion; wearing a blue coat and vest, dark-grey flannel trousers, and brown felt hat.

Wellington.— the 22nd and 24th ultimo, from 123 a Tinakori Road, the property of MARJORIE COATES, a diamond brooch, set with a circle cluster of about twentythree diamonds, in platinum claw setting, shape of bow at bottom, one diamond missing from bow, fine gold chain with safety-pin attached; and a £lO note : total value, £l6O. Cheviot. Between January, 1931, and January last, from Parnassus, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Public Works Department) nine white canvas tents, size 8 ft. by 10 ft., branded “ S over P.W.T. 5 ” ; and seventeen white canvas tent-flys, size 14 fr. by 18 ft., branded “ S over P. W.F. 6” : total value, £39 ss. Identifiable.
