Auckland. llth November last,/for theft of a bicycle (recovered), value £5, the property of John Langford Barlow, grocer, Myers Road, Edward Mercer (name probably fictitious), age about thirty-three, height 5 ft. 2 in., labourer, medium build, dark complexion and hair; dressed in a dirty-brown suit and felt hat. The bicycle was stolen from Newmarket, and sold at a bicycle dealer’s for £l. No warrant.

Auckland.— 23rd October last, for indecent exposure, Man (name unknown), age about twenty, height 5 ft. 3 in., medium build, fair complexion and hair, no teeth dressed in grey trousers, brown tweed coat, and Stetson hat with straight brim. At the Convent School Grounds in Trinity Street, Ponsonby, accused indecently exposed himself to schoolgirls. Mo warrant.

Taumarunui. —17th October last, on warrant for false pretences, A. McDonald, age about forty-five, height 5 ft. 5 in., canvasser, medium build, fresh complexion, sandy hair, blue eyes ; dressed in a blue serge suit and brown tweed overcoat. Accused, who was employed by Harold Senior Clegg, photographer, to canvass for orders for enlargements, obtained from his employer £6 4s. commission on orders amounting to £3l, which he falsely represented to be genuine. Lewis, age about thirty-eight, height ft. 10 in., seaman, medium build, fresh complexion, long face, thin features ; dressed in a dark-grey tweed suit and felt hat. The bicycle was stolen from Currie Street and sold to a secondhand dealer. Opunake.— 4th instant, that he may be located and his revolver and certificate of registration inspected, Joseph Mansor, age forty-two, height 5 ft. 8 in., hawker, native of Syria, medium build, dark complexion, black hair turning grey, brown eyes, black moustache. Napier. sth instant, on warrant for theft of £5 10s., the property of Florence Theresa Turner, storekeeper, 185 a Hastings Street, Allen Harvey Savage, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 6 in., baker and labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, ruddy complexion, light-brown hair, blue eyes, prominent nose (one side of which is very large), pimples on face ; dressed in a grey suit with blue stripes, brown felt hat, and brown shoes; short quick gait. Complainant gave accused the above amount in notes and a cheque to pay to a firm of motor-dealers. He cashed the cheque, and disappeared. .

Wellington. —l3th November last, for assault, Man (name unknown), age about twenty, height about 5 ft. 9 in., slight build, thin face; wearing a dark overcoat and light-coloured slouch hat. In answer to a telephone message received about midnight, George Robert Leahy, taxi-driver, called at 195 The Terrace. Accused came from inside the front gate, got in the car and asked to be driven to Taranaki Street. On reaching there he dealt complainant several blows on the head with some instrument, and ran away. No warrant.

Nottage ” to a cheque for £4, and uttered it to Lawrence Franklin Kitt, boot importer, Hardy Street. He stole the cheque along with two others from his father’s cheque-book.
