Wellington. 26th ultimo, on warrant for false pretences, William Tennant, age about twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair ; dressed in a blue serge suit and soft felt hat. Accused obtained £7 18s. from George Henry Bassant, hotelkeeper, Willis Street, by means of a valueless cheque for that amount on the National Bank of New Zealand. His correct name is believed to be William Graham. The cheque-form and £7 had been stolen from Herbert Clifford Dunstan, garage proprietor, Dunsandel, near Christchurch, about the 25th ultimo. His motor-car was also unlawfully used, and about that time a man named William Graham was working for him, and he may be identical with William Tennant, who is now wanted on the above-mentioned charge of false pretences.

Christchurch. —26th October last, on warrant for theft of a gentlemen’s biscuit-coloured double-breasted overcoat (“ Made especially for McKeown, Sydenham,” on tab), value £5 10s., the property of Edgar Barber, railwayman, 94 Sullivan Avenue, Opawa, Raymond Archibald Richard Anthony Anderson, age twenty-one, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, sunken cheeks; dressed in a light-blue or mauve suit and felt hat; impudent manner; talks quickly. The coat was stolen from the 3YA Radio-station Building, and on the sth November it was sold to a second-hand dealer in Wellington by accused, who gave the name Pat Williams. Christchurch. —Between the 19th and 27th October last, on warrant for obtaining credit by fraud, A. Fraser (name probably fictitious), age about twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 6 in., good build, fresh complexion, brown hair ; dressed in a brown suit, fawn felt hat with dark band, fawn tweed overcoat, and cream-coloured scarf. Accused obtained credit for groceries, value £1 125., from Alice Maria Hessey, storekeeper, 442 St. Asaph Street, by falsely representing that he was in the Railway Office at Christchurch. He also obtained an order from complainant to obtain a pair of shoes from Bing, Harris, and Co.’s warehouse, and he procured from that firm two pairs of shoes and a suit, value £5 18s., of the following descriptions : A pair of gentlemen’s willow-calf Oxford shoes, size 7 ; a pair of gentlemen’s glace Oxford shoes, size 7 ; a fawn-grey striped suit, size 3.

Timaru. — Ist instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his child, Ernest Lester McCuish, 31 Le Cren Street, Alexander McCuish, age twenty-three, height 6 ft., labourer and motor-driver, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh freckled complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, high cheek-bones, impediment in speech; dressed in a light-tweed suit, fawn hat, and blue overcoat with belt on back.
