It has been ascertained that accused are identical with the following persons, and warrants have been /y issued for their arrest : Clifford Dahlin, alias Montgomery, I7i preferred to in Police Gazette, 1931, page 271, and Photo - ' graphs, 1923, page 83 Reginald Clarence Williams, referred to in Police Gazette, 1931, page 289, and Photographs, 1931, page 48 ; John Brooks, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 6 in., native of Australia, slight build, dark complexion ; jockey appearance ; and a man, supposed to be Barney White, age thirty -six, height 5 ft. 8 in., native of,Australia, fair com - plexion and hair. Under assumed names they left Wellington by the s.s. “ Maunganui ” on the 25th ultimo. They were in possession of the following £SO notes : P. 1992, 1233, 3487, 3008, 2805, 000831, and 000225, on the National Bank of New Zealand. It has been ascertained by the Waihi police that he stayed for a few days at the end of last month at the dwelling of Mrs. Emma Isabel Heath, Tauranga Road, Waihi, and is suspected of having stolen 15s. from the gas-meter in her home. Ramsay (name probably fictitious), age about thirty-seven, height about 5 ft. 10 in., medium build, dark complexion ; dressed in a blue suit and felt hat turned down. Accused obtained goods, value £5 125., and £4 19s. cash from Ernest Clare, mercer, High Street, by means of a valueless cheque for £lO 11s. The cheque was from a cheque-book in the possession of J. L. Wheeler, referred to in Police Gazette, 1931, page 298. He may be identical with Albert Edward Way, referred to in Police Gazette, 1931, page 282. Watkouaiti. —7th instant, that he may be interviewed regarding a fire which destroyed an unoccupied cottage at Waikouaiti on the night of the 12th ultimo, the property of Christopher Head, boardinghouse - keeper, William James Murphy, age forty-two, height 5 ft. 11 in., labourer, native of Ireland, stout build, dark complexion and hair ; shabbily dressed in a dark suit, grey overcoat, and cap, and may have a sack swag. He is believed to have slept in the cottage on the night preceding the fire, and he was seen in the vicinity of the cottage on the afternoon of the 12th ultimo.
