McKinnon (name probably fictitious), age about twenty-nine, height 5 ft. 10 in., engineer, slight build, dark complexion and hair; shabbily dressed. Gander, alias Leonard William Jones (both names probably fictitious), age about thirty-seven, height about 6 ft. 1 in., medium build, sallow complexion, shaggy dark hair; dressed in a brownish or bluish-grey suit and felt hat. Accused obtained a sparking-plug and £2 9s. 6d. cash from Walter Basil Granger, motor mechanic, Victoria Street, by means of a valueless cheque for £2 15s. The cheque was from a cheque-book, No. 2AIIBOBI-2AIIBOIIO, issued to Leonard William Jones, who on the 3rd ultimo deposited £6 with the Union Bank of Australia, Wanganui, and on the same day issued a cheque for £5 10s. Accused obtained from Percy Trethewey Davey, licensee Crown Hotel, board, value £4 45., by falsely representing that he was a mining engineer employed at Nightcaps.
