Accused forged the signatures of C. C. Cairns and F. Woodward to a cheque for £25, and uttered it to Margaret Burch, wife of licensee Waikato Hotel. The cheque is from one of two cheque-books which disappeared from the premises of Cairns and Woodward, Auckland,. when they were destroyed by fire on the 16th February last. No warrant

Accused obtained £1 from Thomas George McGovern, licensee Upokongaro Hotel, by means of a valueless cheque for that amount. The cheque was from a cheque-book, No. 2/a 115831 - 2/a 115860, issued by the Union Bank of Australia, Wanganui, to Annie Black, who opened a small account recently. She is associated with accused (and they are in possession of a motor-car, registration No. 4-317 or 14-317), and her description is : Age about forty, strong build; wearing brown overcoat with large white or grey squares. No warrant has been issued for her arrest. They are suspected of breaking and entering the Alton Store on the night of the 30th ultimo, and other offences.
