William Thomas Jensen, unlawfully converting a motor-car to his own use : The warrant for this offence (referred to in Police Gazette, 1931, pages 53, 93, and 117) has been cancelled, and a warrant for theft of the car has been issued. He was seen with the car near Taupo on or about the 9th ultimo, and he may be using it as a taxi or service car. The number-plate apparently has been mutilated, making the number read 5 : 560 (instead of 15 : 560). The car is a five-seater Essex sedan, painted black, with faint white line around body ; upholstering is covered with tightfitting false covers, the material of which is different in colour and texture from that covering the ceiling. The speedometer is sealed, and there is a governor on the engine to limit the speed of the car. /&3/J /

Accused obtained a loan of the money from complainant, whom he met in Queen Street, by representing that he was staying at the Ambassadors Hotel, and had to pay an account at Smith and Caughey’s. Similar complaints regarding a man of the same description have been received. No warrant.

On or about the 28th October last, on warrant for theft of a cheque, value £4 10s., the property of Richard George Victor Garrett, builder, Ronald Thomas McHugh, alias Ron McHugh, age thirty, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer and signwriter, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, dark -brown hair, brown eyes erect gait ; plausible. Accused, who occupied complainant’s shop for some time, stole the cheque from his (complainant’s) office and cashed it at Palmerston North. , .

Accused, who was a patient in the hospital, was given £1 by complainant to purchase certain articles. He disappeared with the money. There are other charges pending.

Wellington. 3lst January last, on two warrants of commitment to Wellington Prison for one month on each in default of paying (1) £22 7s. 6d. and (2) £9 10s. arrears on maintenance orders for the support of his wife and child, Roy William Spencer, age thirty-two, height 5 ft. 7j in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, pointed nose ; scars on right cheek, on groin, and on lower lip; star and heart on left forearm; flowers, flag, &c., on right forearm; brown spot under lip scar on right palm and ring-finger ; usually well dressed.
