Queen Street Wharf (Auckland). 3rd ultimo, on warrant for being absent from the s.s. “ Ruapehu ” without leave, Jurgen Andrew Winded, age about thirty, height 5 ft. 9 in., fireman, medium build, dark complexion and hair, hazel eyes; nurse and horseshoe on right joi'earm. /, ffv- Z*

Auckland. William Thomas Jensen, unlawfully converting a motor-car to his own use : The warrant for this offence (referred to in Police Gazette, 1931, pages 53, 93, and 117) has been cancelled, and a warrant for theft of the car has been issued. He was seen with the car near Taupo on or about the 9th ultimo, and he may be using it as a taxi or service car. The number-plate apparently has been mutilated, making the number read 5 : 560 (instead of 15 : 560). The car is a five-seater Essex sedan, painted black, with faint white line around body ; upholstering is covered with tightfitting false covers, the material of which is different in colour and texture from that covering the ceiling. The speedometer is sealed, and there is a governor on the engine to limit the speed of the car. /&3/J /

Auckland. 24th ultimo, that he may be interviewed regarding the maintenance of his three children in a State institution, William Edgar Basham, age thirty height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, grey eyes, scar on right ankle, knee, and buttock. Auckland. —22nd ultimo, for failing to comply with the conditions of his release upon probation (Offenders Probation Act, 1920), Alexander Rennie, age twenty-one, height 5 ft. 5 in., hairdresser, native of Scotland, strong build, fresh complexion, fair hair, two front teeth missing ; neatly dressed in a blue serge suit with double-breasted coat and brown shoes ; Bible-class badge in lapel of coat. He is also suspected of theft at 90.)

Auckland.l9th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Dunedin Prison for three months in default of paying £7l 10s. arrears on a maintenance order for the support of Annie Tyrie, Alfred Tyrie, age thirty-one, height 5 ft. 10 in., plasterer, native of Australia, slight build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, blue eyes, nose turned to one side. Auckland.9th ultimo, for theft of £7, the property of Thomas James William Blackwell, labourer, Great Barrier Island, Bill Jones (name probably fictitious), age about fifty, height about 5 ft. 6 in., good build, tanned complexion, cleanshaved ; smartly dressed in a brownish-grey suit and .fawn felt hat. Accused obtained a loan of the money from complainant, whom he met in Queen Street, by representing that he was staying at the Ambassadors Hotel, and had to pay an account at Smith and Caughey’s. Similar complaints regarding a man of the same description have been received. No warrant.

Auckland.3lst January last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for seven days in default of paying £3 3s. fine and costs for a breach of the city by-laws, Thomas Langford, age twenty, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer and taxidriver, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair and eyes. Auckland. pretences, Eric Gordon Brassey, referred to in Police Gazette, 1931, page 105. Accused obtained £8 from William Charles Waugh, licensee, Commercial Hotel, by means of a valueless cheque for that amount. There are other charges pending.

Otorohanga. On or about the 28th October last, on warrant for theft of a cheque, value £4 10s., the property of Richard George Victor Garrett, builder, Ronald Thomas McHugh, alias Ron McHugh, age thirty, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer and signwriter, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, dark -brown hair, brown eyes erect gait ; plausible. Accused, who occupied complainant’s shop for some time, stole the cheque from his (complainant’s) office and cashed it at Palmerston North. , .

Rotorua.24th ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife and child, Archibald John Eaves, age fifty-four, height 5 ft. 10 in., bushman, native, of Australia, strong build, pale complexion, grey hair and eyes ; artificial upper teeth, one of which is gold ; scar below left knee, right big toe missing ; slightly stooped. Arrears to 4th January last. £36 15s. (Sec Police Gazette, 1930, page 684.)

Waipukurau. 2oth ultimo, on warrant for theft of £l, the property of William Redding, pastrycook, Wilfred Edward Gordon, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of Scotland, thin build, fair complexion and hair, blue eyes, dressed in grey trousers and double-breasted brown coat; delicate appearance. Accused, who was a patient in the hospital, was given £1 by complainant to purchase certain articles. He disappeared with the money. There are other charges pending.

Wellington. 3lst January last, on two warrants of commitment to Wellington Prison for one month on each in default of paying (1) £22 7s. 6d. and (2) £9 10s. arrears on maintenance orders for the support of his wife and child, Roy William Spencer, age thirty-two, height 5 ft. 7j in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, pointed nose ; scars on right cheek, on groin, and on lower lip; star and heart on left forearm; flowers, flag, &c., on right forearm; brown spot under lip scar on right palm and ring-finger ; usually well dressed. Westport. —l9th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Greymouth Prison for seven days in default of paying £1 3s. fine and costs for being found on licensed premises during prohibited hours, Angus Rollick, age forty-five, height 5 ft. 10 in., seaman and labourer, strong build, sallow complexion, dark hair; dressed in a navy-blue suit and grey felt hat; walks slowly, and usually has his hands in his pockets. /

Westport. —l4th January last, on warrant of commitment to Westport Prison for seven days in default of paying 15s, costs for being illegally on licensed premises, Lawrence Flynn, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 8 in., fireman, medium build.

Greymouth. — l7th ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his illegitimate child, of whom Muriel Willoughby, Peel Street, Cobden, is the mother, Frank Willoughby Mitchell, age about thirty-six, height 5 ft. 4 in., labourer, native of England, strong build, dark complexion, black hair, brown eyes, tip of middle finger missing ; usually dressed in a navyblue suit. • Christchurch. —23rd ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Paparua Prison for six months. in default of paying £75 arrears on a maintenance order for the support of his two children, Arthur McKeever, age thirty-seven, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, ruddy complexion, auburn hair going bald, scar on back, on shin, and on left thigh. ■ Christchurch. 3oth January last, on warrant for theft of an overcoat (recovered), a pair of black woollen gloves, and a fawn soft felt hat, size 7|- (“ J. D. Lynch” in ink inside leather band), value £6, the property of James Daniel Lynch, Greymouth, F. Wilson (name probably fictitious), age about thirty-four, height 5 ft. 11 in., labourer, medium build, fresh complexion, thin face; dressed in a -grey suit. The property was stolen from the Royal Hotel, and the overcoat was recovered at a second-hand shop.

Christchurch. sth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Paparua Prison for six months in default of paying £lB6 6s. 6d. arrears on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Arthur Reginald Borland, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 6-Jin., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, dark-brown hair, blue eyes. Ashburton. —13th ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his illegitimate child, of whom Victoria May Scott, domestic, is the mother, Richard Stanley Corkin, age about thirty-six, height 6 ft., grocer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair, blue eyes, clean -shaved; usually dressed in a navy-blue' or grey suit and tan shoes; limps slightly. Timarit. 4th ultimo, that he may be compelled to maintain his child, in the care of the Education Department, Patrick John Holland, age fifty - four, height 5 ft. 7J in., labourer, native of Ireland, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, brown eyes, long nose, turned to right, scar on forehead and on right forearm, mole on back of right shoulder, birthmarl; on left elbow. Oamaru. Dunedin Prison for two months in default of paying £ll 2s. 3d. fine and costs for driving a motor-car without a license, Patrick Harrington, age twenty - eight, height 6 ft. 1 in., labourer and . linesman, native of New Zealand, slight build, pale complexion, fair hair, blue eyes ; bad feet; fond of drink, and prohibited ; usually well dressed in a blue suit. Dunedin. ultimo, for failing to comply with the conditions of his release upon probation (Offenders Probation Act, 1920), Robert Henry Brockie, age twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 8-|-in., dealer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, scar on back of right wrist and on right shin. He deals in fruit and other wares, and he may be in possession of a delapidated one-ton truck, No. 126 : 291. There is also a summons for a breach of the Motor - vehicles Act to be served upon him.
