SPECIAL NOTICE.
Unidentified Body. Whangarei. —On the 6th July last the dead body of a Mon (name unknown) was found in Russell Harbour, having apparently been in the water about nine or ten days. Description : Age about forty, height 5 ft. 5 in., slight build, thick black hair, good teeth. The following property of deceased was found at the railway-station and beneath Opua Wharf : A Pelaco shirt, white with pleated Luvisca front,
size 15, “843 Y. Made in Australia on it; three Pelaco shirts, white, brown, and blue ; a pair of fleecy-lined underpants, branded “ Bonds, Australia ” ; a soft Rampion collar, branded “ Cohen & Sons, Ltd., Paris House, Tailors, Haymarket ” ; a soft Acme collar, made in Australia ; a soft Relova collar, made in Australia ; a pair of black silk socks ; a brown striped tie ; a woollen purple tie ; a gentlemen’s suit, blue with red stripe, with extra pair of trousers of same material; a pair of blue elastic braces; a Showerproof overcoat, branded “ The Golden Fleece ” ; a grey cardigan, branded “ Top Dog ” ; a pair of blue flannelette pyjama trousers ; a brown hat, branded “ The Sovereign Hat, Jos. Johnston, Tailor, Hatter, and Mercer, Geraldton ” ; a pair of black lace -up boots, size 7, Atlas brand, crepe soles, Nos. 6809 and 3666 a ; a pair of white painter’s overalls ; a Valet safety razor and shaving material; two putty-knives ; a painter’s scraping-knife ; a small painter’s brush ; a secondclass single railway-ticket, dated 21st June, 1930, No. 29893, from Christchurch to Dunedin, partly used ; and a berthing slip for s.s. “ Maunganui,” date 13/6/30, third class, berth 6, cabin 126, in name “J. Brownlee.” Inquiries are to be made to establish the identity of deceased, whose name may have been J. Brownlee.
