Gisborne. —10th ultimo, on two warrants of commitment to Gisborne Prison for twenty-one days in default of paying £4 10s. fine and costs for two breaches of his prohibition order, Rangi Halbert, age thirty-eight, height 5 ft. 9 in., farmer, native of New Zealand, strong build, copper complexion, black hair, brown eyes ; a half-caste Maori. Taumarunui. 27th March last, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of Elizabeth Esma Williams, in the care of the Education Department, Clarence William Welsh, age thirty-eight, height about 5 ft. 5 in., labourer and fireman, native of New Zealand, slight build, sallow complexion, wavy dark-brown hair, cast in left eye, arms profusely tattooed ; “ Remembrance of Brother, who was killed in the War,” on back. This is in lieu of the notice in Police Gazette, 1930, page 236, where the description is incorrect. /£ f 3

New Plymouth. —l9th ultimo, on warrant for obtaining credit by fraud, William Walker, age about thirty, height 5 ft. 6 in., medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair, bluegrey eyes, long eyelashes, two left upper teeth missing; dressed in dark tweed trousers, light-grey sports coat, and grey felt hat. Accused obtained £5 from John William Watt, motor-service-station proprietor, Eliot Street, by means of a valueless cheque for that amount on the Bank of /New Zealand, Te Awamutu. / 1 ,

Stratford. 2sth ultimo, for failing to comply with the conditions of his release upon probation (Offenders Probation Act, 1920), Alexander John Dowling, age thirty, height 5 ft. 9 in., linotypist, native of Australia, medium build, sallow complexion, black hair, brown eyes, prominent nose ; dressed in a grey suit, light-grey felt hat, brownish overcoat, and black patent-leather shoes. Wanganui.—Bth instant, on warrant for false pretences, Herbert Reginald Vernon Williams, age thirty-four, height 5 ft. 10 in., salesman and canvasser, native of England, strong build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, grey eyes, scar on right side and on left leg (which has silver plate in it); dressed in a brown tweed suit and brown brogue shoes (no hat). Accused obtained a motor-tube, value 7s. Gd., and £3 10s. cash from Edward Ferguson Neilson, service-station manager, Gonville, by means of a valueless cheque for £3 17s. 6d. on the National Bank of New Zealand, Wanganui. (recovered), value £5 4s. 6d., the property of Munt, Cottrill, and Neilson, Ltd., motor - body builders, Jackson Street, Lindsay Garner, age nineteen, height 5 ft. 1\ in., panelbeater, native of Tasmania, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair and eyes, full face, thick lips ; dressed in a grey suit and grey felt hat with brown band. Wellington.—sth instant, for assault and robbery, Man (name unknown), age about twenty-one, height about 5 ft. 8 in., slight build; wearins fawn gabardine overcoat and light-grey cap. About 12.35 p.m. in the Botanical Gardens accused struck Eileen Maude Kimbell, surgery nurse, a blow on the head with an iron bar and decamped with her purse and contents, which are described as follows : A brown, green, and red raffia purse ; a cheque No. A 083307, on the Bank of New South Wales, Wellington, for £2, drawn by Walter J. Hope Robertson in favour of Miss Kimbell; a small red purse containing about nine pennies; and a portion of a 2s. 6d. concession card, either No. A 84950 or C 84950, for the Kelburn-Karori Tram : total value £2 Ids. No warrant.
