On the 4th or sth instant the shop of the AUCKLAND MEAT CO., Wellington Street, was broken into and the following stolen from the safe, which was opened by means of explosives : Five Bank of New Zealand £1 notes, Nos. C 706724, C 032983, 8576323, 8641283, and E 183133 ; a Bank of Australasia £1 note, No. 470130 ; two Bank of New Zealand 10s. notes. Nos. A 754980 and A 26722 4; a National Bank of New Zealand 10s. note, No. 555522 ; a Commercial Bank of Australia 10s. note, No. 118337 ; and £5 14s. 2d. in money total value, £l3 14s. 2d. Notes identifiable. During the night of the 9th instant the factory of THOMPSON AND HILLS, Nelson Street, was also broken into, and an attempt made to open the strong-room by means of explosives.

Pafakura. Between the 4th and 11th instant the dwelling of JOHN HORSFALL, James Road, Manurewa, was broken into and the following stolen : A single-barrel breech-loading shotgun, No. A. 36876, 12 bore ; an axe, a claw-hammer, and a pair of pliers : total value, £1 16s. 6d. Gun identifiable.

Kerepehi. Between the 20th July and 10th September, 1928, from a flax - mill at Kaihere, the property of ARANA, Tahuna, a passport with complainant’s photograph attached; a red turban composed of 9 yards of silk ; a white Indian silk coat; and an Indian silk vest: total value, £1 18s. Identifiable.

Bulls. Between the 28th February last and the 28th March, from a box on the Greatford Road, the property of HAMISH G. WILSON, a gentlemen’s black dinner-suit, rolled collar repaired at back, braid on vest; value, £lO 10s. Identifiable.

Palmerston North. —llth or 12th instant, from a paddock near Levin, the property of JOHN MATTHEW MILNE, Oxford Street, Levin, fifty-three Southdown and Romney lambs about eight months old, a red and a blue raddle-mark’ on rump of each, some white-faced, which are shorn, and also ear-marked with circular piece out of tip and a bit out of top of right ears for wethers and out of left ears for ewes ; some are black-faced, which are unshorn, and branded “ E.S.” with red paint on shoulder and earmarked with two club-shape pieces out of bottom of right ears for wethers and left ears for ewes : total value, £53. Identifiable.

Masterton. —Bth ultimo, the property of ROBERT UHR, Brooklyn House, Renall Street, a gentlemen’s rolled-gold open-face watch, Dennison cases, fifteen jewels ; a double 9 ct. gold fine curb watch-chain ; and £1 in money : total value, £l2 10s. Identifiable except money. Suspicion is attached to Man (name unknown), age about thirty-seven, height about 5 ft. 9 in., medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair, clean-shaved ; wearing a grey suit and light felt hat. Complainant, who was drunk, stayed at Brooklyn Boardinghouse on the night of the Bth instant, and was assisted to bed by the suspect, who arrived from Featherston with Uhr.
