Kaikohe.Between the 9th and 16th ultimo, the hut of GEORGE YUKICH, Okaihau, was broken into and the following stolen : A Bank of New Zealand £lO note ; a gentlemen’s rolled-gold hunting keyless Waltham watch ; a gentlemen’s rolled-gold hunting keyless Dennison watch ; a 15 ct. gold fetter watch-chain ; and an 18 ct. gold engagement-ring set with two diamonds and a sapphire: total value, £29. The suspect called at complainant’s shop in Karangahape Road and was permitted to use the telephone. After he left the office the handbag was missed. He is to be interviewed regarding the offence. Lexur thereon ; three tea-plates with green tea-leaves on edges ; a large cake-dish with flowers on black border ; four small plates with flowers on blue border ; a blue and red porridge bowl and plate ; six dozen fancy silver teaspoons ; a black china bowl with butterflies in centre ; a basket- rose-bowl ; six blue and pink striped towels ; ten white towels ; and six single-bed sheets, &c. : total value, £ls. Carterton. —On the 9th ultimo the dwelling of CHARLES WILLIAM JENSEN, Waihakeke, was broken into and a P.O. Savings-bank book No. 560142 in name of P. S. Jensen and about 19s. in money stolen therefrom. Suspicion is attached to Basil Bishop, age sixteen, height 5 ft. 7 in., farm hand, native of New Zealand, slight build, fresh complexion, dark hair, blue eyes ; dressed in a grey sports coat, darkgrey tweed trousers, and grey felt hat, pleasant appearance. Between the 11th January, 1928, and 15th January, 1929, from Waiua, D’Urville Island, the property of ROBERT JOHN WILLIAM TURNER, French Pass, 100 Corriedale cross wethers, various ages, earmarked with V-shaped piece out of tip of right ears and front of left ears ; and 30 Corriedale cross ewes, various ages, earmarked with V-shaped piece out of tip of left ears and front of right ears : total value, £216 13s. 4d. WlLFßED HUDSPETH’S fountain pen, &c., stolen, and John Arnold suspected of the offence : John Edward Kelly, alias Kelley, who was going by the name John Arnold, has been interviewed by the Dunedin police and admits being in Greymouth at the time the offence was committed, but no evidence was obtained against him.
