PROPERTY STOLEN.

Auckland. — Between the Bth and 9th instant the premises of HAWTHORNE AND MUNRO, butchers, Broadway, Papakura, were broken into, and the following stolen from a safe which was opened by means of explosives : £l6 9s. 9d. in money; a cheque for £1 19s. 3d. on the Union Bank of Australia, Auckland, No. 36-2179, dated 22/2/29, in favour of A. Sutton, and drawn by the Loan and Mercantile Agency, “A. Sutton ” endorsed on back : total value, £lB 9s. Cheque only identifiable. A grocer’s store adjoining, occupied by CHARLES DAVID EARL, was broken into the same night, and £2 18s. 9d. stolen from the cash-register. Not identifiable.

Auckland. — 16th January last, from H. G. EarnalPs Buildings, No. 10 Civic Square, the property of JOHN LAWSON WHITLOCK, Lucknow Road, Havelock North, a gentlemen’s silver hunting Elgin watch, “ John Lawson Whitlock, 17th birthday, from his father,” engraved inside of case, “ J.L.W.” engraved on outside of case: value, £4 10s. Identifiable.

Stratford. — Ist instant, from Juliet Street, the property of ALEXANDER WHITE, Broadway North, a gentlemen’s black-enamelled free-wheel B.S.A. bicycle, No. W 7 20390, reversible handles, black celluloid grips, Warwick cord tires, “ Lightband and Wann ” transfer ; value, £l3. Identifiable.

Napier. — l9th January last, from McGruer’s drapery shop, the property of VERA MARGUERITE DUNNET, 1 Madeira Road, a three-stone diamond ring, stones set wide apart, narrow band; and a diamond cluster ring with large stone in centre and surrounded by about twelve small diamonds in platinum setting : total value, £SO. Not identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Eileen Murphy, age nineteen, height 5 ft. 6 in., domestic, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes. She has been interviewed, but no evidence resulted.

Masterton. —16th January last, from Masterton Park, the property of KENDRICK WALTER CUNDY, care of Kempton, Carrington, Wairarapa. a gentlemen’s blackenamelled bicycle, handles turned forward, black rubber grips, John Bull tires, Bosch generator, Ransom light; value, £B. Identifiable.

Wellington. About the 7th January last from a strongroom in Harcourt’s Building, Lambton Quay, the property of ROBERT WILLIAM SHALLCRASS, a pair of red “ Goertz ” field-glasses, 8 X magnification, worn appearance, expanding screw-piece between barrels, separate adjustment for each eye-piece, in a tan leather case with shoulder-strap, “R. W. Shallcrass ” is probably written inside of case; value, £B. Identifiable.

Wellington. the 7th ultimo, from Grass Street, the property of LESLIE ARTHUR HUTTON, 8 Grass Street, a gentlemen’s black-enamelled free-wheel Couchman bicycle, No. 2087, Onward saddle, Coachman transfers; value, £lO. Identifiable. 3QI £\-£Q

Between the 22nd December and 9th January last, from the Government Printing Office, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT, a quantity of brass rule, in various lengths from J in. to 8 in. long by about 1 in. wide ; the rule has one edge for producing dotted fines in print; each length has a small nick cut at both ends by which it is identifiable, also by figures thereon : value, about £lO.

Eastbourne. Between the 19th and 29th January last, from Muritai Park, the property of the EASTBOURNE BOROUGH COUNCIL, an electric motor, J H.P., 230 volt, single phase ; value, £7. Identification doubtful.

Christchurch. —Between the 9th and 11th instant, the warehouse of WEBLEY, SONS, AND GOETON, LTD., 243 High Street, was broken into, and the following stolen : An His Master’s Voice portable gramophone, No. 770; a number of H.M.V. gramophone-records, Nos. D.A. 765, D. 1383, D. 1416, E.D. 8, C. 1223, C. 1049, C. 1205, C. 1462, E. 5, E.B. 8, E.B. 31, E.B. 32, B. 2347, E.A. 382 ; a number of Zonophone records, Nos. 3752, 859, 2959, E.E. 21, 3456, E.E. 67 (the envelopes containing some of the records bore one of the following names in pencil—Bremford, Christie, Morris, Kaikoura, Crombie): total value, £l7 10s. Identifiable.

St. Andrew’s. Between the Bth and 9th instant, from the Masonic Hotel, the property of AMY McCURDY, a heavy dark bush rug with broad stripes, plain ends ; value, £2. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to McKay, age about forty, height about 5 ft. 8 in., fair complexion, light-brown hair ; dressed in dark trousers, light-grey coat, and cap.

Dunedin. —3oth January last, from a shed, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Railways Department), Hillside Workshops, a rotary pump and motor combined, -horse power, plate on motor with “ W.R. 6397 by Armstrong Whitworth, 400 volts, 50 cycles ” thereon, pump 1 in. capacity attached ; 40 ft. of § in. 3-ply rubber hose : total value, £37. Motor identifiable.

Dunedin. 23rd ultimo, from a motor-car, the property of THRUSDALE RUSSELL BECK, farmer, Aparima, Otautau, Southland, a brown leather suit-case, about 22 in. long by 18 in. high, “ T. R. Beck ” written in pencil on bottom outside ; two fibre suit-cases, 18 in. by 12 in. ; a fibre suit-case, 30 in. by 18 in., containing two white canoe shirts, size 3 ; a linen shirt with black and white stripes, size 3 ; twelve linen collars, 15|- by 14, initials T.R.B. inside ; a ladies’ lavender flannel costume ; a ladies’ green with champagne front dress ; ladies’ underclothing, &c.; a gold - mounted fountain - pen with “ T.R.8.” thereon ; a cheque-book on the National Bank of New Zealand, Invercargill, numbers Z 28441 to Z 28464 ; a fawn leather pocket-wallet, containing £ls ; three photo snaps ; three keys ; and an order on the National Bank of New Zealand to draw up to £BO, dated 19/2/29 : total value, £34 16s. 6d.
