The description is that of a man who sold the bicycle to a second-hand dealer.

Hastings.—l6th November last, for false pretences, Edward Arthur Peters, alias Ted Peters, age thirty-four, height 5 ft. 101 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, auburn hair, grey eyes, scar on left forearm and on back of right hand, tip of left little finger missing ; dressed in a grey suit and light-grey overcoat. Accused obtained £5 from Albert Hill, farmer, by falsely representing that he and his brother had 12,000 acres of land at Motuhora, and that he had mislaid his cheque-book. No warrant. Accused forged the signature “ James Brittick ” to a cheque for £4, No. A 55703, on the Bank of New Zealand, Dannevirke, and uttered it to William Shire and Co. in payment for fruit, receiving £3 15s. change. Wellington. — ultimo, for theft, forgery, and uttering, John Edmund Thomas O’Sullivan, age twenty-three, height 5 ft. 10£ in., carpenter, native of New Zealand, medium build, freckled complexion, dark-brown hair, hazel eyes, large ears, scar on right wrist, left leg has been broken ; dressed in a dark-grey coat, grey flannel trousers, grey - tweed overcoat, and fawn hat. Accused stole a Post Office Savings-bank book, No. 288396, from Charles Hillhouse, 29 Garden Road, forged the signature C. Hillhouse to a withdrawal slip for £IOO, presented it at the G.P.0., Wellington, and obtained £IOO, supposed in £2O notes. No warrant. (See Police Gazette, 1927, page 432.)
