Matamata.— ultimo, on warrant for forgery and uttering, F. Rodgers (name probably fictitious), age about thirty-five, height about 5 ft. 9 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, swarthy complexion, fair hair, grey eyes, scar on upper lip, clean-shaved ; dressed in a dark tweed suit and dark-grey felt hat. Wallace Supplies, storekeepers, Matamata. A man of above description stole the cheque from the cheque-book of David Taylor, farmer, Putaruru, who gave him shelter on the night of the 22nd ultimo. ct/tyO

Wanganui.— ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his two children, Percival Horace Wilmhurst, alias Benge, age thirty-six, height 5 ft. 8 in., butcher, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, black hair, blue eyes ; usually well dressed. Wanganui.— Henry William Charles McKay, alias Beaumont, false pretences : It has been ascertained by the Hastings police that accused stayed from the 26th to the 30th ultimo at the Carlton Club Hotel, Hastings. The stolen binoculars referred to in Police Gazette,JL 928, page 702, were given by him to the licensee of the hotel, and he left behind, a blue-nap double - breasted overcoat with half - belt and a mounted Kruger sovereign. He was dressed in blue trousers' and double-breasted blue coat- Ivith brass buttons, and represented himself to be Engineer-Lieutenant Kelsey. Wellington. —2sth ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his illegitimate child, of whom Frances Rose Mayhill is the mother, Harold William EtimcndS, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 10 in., shearer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion and hair, blue eyes, left eye twitches ; stutters slightly. Arrears to 22nd ultimo, £2 12s. 6d. His photograph is filed in the Superintendent’s Office, Wellington.

Nelson. —14th May last, on warrant for theft of £7 155., the property of Joseph Taylor, mining engineer, 22a Cambria Street, Frank Brooke, age -nine, height 5 ft. 10 in., insurance agent, native of Ceylon, medium build, ruddy complexion, grey hair and eyes ; plausible and well educated. Complainant gave accused the money for bonds on the Central and Commercial Credit Bank of Amiens, France, and he failed to remit the money to the bank. There are other charges pending. Kaikoura. —18th ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Mary Ann Howse, and two children, Geofford Leslie Howse, alias George Thompson, age thirty, height 5 ft. 8 in., motor-driver, native of Australia, slight build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, blue eyes, two scars on right upper arm and on right shoulder ; dressed in a navy-blue suit, grey felt hat, and tan /shoes. Christchurch. —17th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Paparua Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £7 15s. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his sister, Daniel Tomlins, age twenty-two, height sft. sin., plasterer, native of New Zealand, medium build, pale complexion, light-brown hair, grey eyes, sharp features ; dressed in grev trousers and navy-blue coat.
